Is there ANY way to turn off the "basic" Fred starfield? I'm using the starfield from BTRL as well as some of their planetary maps, but the problem is that the default FRED starfield remains on the screen as well and is terribly distracting. You can see those stars every time you turn your ship, and worse, they show up ON TOP OF the background planet pofs.

I think you can edit it in notepad and set the stars to 0. Don't quote me on that though.

You can set it to 0 in notepad. I did this on over ten missions - works perfectly. I don't know why FRED doesn't have this option, honestly.
But yeah, if you're going to use a planetary or atmospheric skybox, this is a must-do.

Thank you!

I could have sworn reading that this had been added to FRED at some point in the last couple of months. I'll have to double check.
Looks like Goober swatted this one on 9/14 so any build after that shouldn't have the problem.

Yeah, the default stars should no longer show up if you're using a skybox.

I fixed the slider to allow you to turn it down to 0 long before that anyway. :)

What if I want to mix the default stars with Starfield.pof?
Since I DO like the streaks from the default stars, it's just that it looks ugly when its on top of a planet or worse...in the atmosphere (at day time!).

It's going to look strange if some stars streak while others don't though.
