Now THAT's cool. This is a screenshot of my desktop witch looks exaclty like Vista... but the OS is Win XP!
I just got a programme that allows you to make winXP (AND ONLY XP) look like Vista.
If you want it, go here (http://vista-customization-pack.en.softonic.com/)
-
The "Start" button doesn't look right.
-
Honestly, I prefer my XP to look like XP, because I find the UI much more functional
-
If you're going to go fudge up your computer, why not get a computer that's already been fudged? Like a Vista?
-
My Ubuntu already looks a lot like Vista, thanks anyway.

Amusing. I've done the exact opposite - my desktop looks like Win95 but its Vista =)
-
I'll see your one transformation kit... and raise you 4 more...
http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/5-packs-to-transform-windows-to-other-os/
Xp to mac - vista - fedora - ubuntu - & another OSX
-
Yes, I have one of those XP to Vista ones - but some of the stuff doesn't work in the user accounts.
-
Firstly, why would you want to make something look like Vista/Office '07?
Secondly, why in the Hell is that image 600x480?
-
My Ubuntu already looks a lot like Vista, thanks anyway.
Did you do that with Emerald?

Yeah. Emerald + a slightly modified Vista theme. The original one had the top window border way too big.

Windows Server 2008 FTW!
:nervous:
-
I've forgotton the names of more shell apps than i'd care to imagine. Can't remember any in fact. ;)

The "Start" button doesn't look right.
more specific, please?

It's not positioned right on the task bar and the top of the button is cut off.
-
If memory serves, the button should be further to the left.
-
Anyway, that's what the programme did.
-
Is there any good program to allow full customisation of Win XP's appearance? I mean, like having your own start button, and etc. Kinda like the XP-to-Vista apearance conversion, just that I specify what to change into what, and etc.
-
not that easily. you'd do well to do it all yourself and there are lots of guides on that
-
why would i want my suckey operating system to look like an even more suckey operating system
*waits for reactos*
-
why would i want my suckey operating system to look like an even more suckey operating system
Because it is marginally more fun than buying the even more sucky operating system.

Oh yeah. Thanks. Unless I'm gonna mess up, or don't know how to use it, I'm gonna make myself a GTVA appearance.

Which themes and wallpaper on gnome-look.org did you get? I'm not interested in the 3d effects, just the panel, background, and gtk theme.
-
The Emerald window border came from this file pack: http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Complete+Vista+Aero+theme+(automated)?content=72318 (http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Complete+Vista+Aero+theme+(automated)?content=72318)
Here is the Wallpaper: http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Vista+Hugger+%5BUbuntu%5D?content=77243 (http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Vista+Hugger+%5BUbuntu%5D?content=77243)
And the GTK Theme: http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Murrina-LiNsta+(LiNsta+is+Not+Vista+%3B-)?content=61068 (http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Murrina-LiNsta+(LiNsta+is+Not+Vista+%3B-)?content=61068)
At last, but not least, the start button: http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/RoMu+DsGr+Spiral+Start+button?content=81490 (http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/RoMu+DsGr+Spiral+Start+button?content=81490)
These were hard for me to find for the second time, I forgot where those files were.
