Title: .dds file editing / viewing in Adobe PhotoShop CS3
Post by: LeGuille on October 22, 2008, 10:48:16 pm
I have Adobe PhotosShop CS3 Web Design Pro + Gold-Alpha-Beta-Gamma-Awesome-10.12b/YourMom edition. </sarcasm>

It seems to have issues, after I installed the DDS file importer / exporter plugin, viewing the files in the TBP core. I cannot open files to view / edit them or put them in a data/maps .vp so I can do custom-textures. It's so annoying. It gives me a program error every time. It will view the starfield_0001 file from the skybox_nebulae set.

So, I am confused as to what to do. How can I edit these DDS files more easily?

What did you use to extract the files from the TBP core?  The file is so large that several programs will just extract garbage.  Try using the version of VPView that is on the TBP DVD.

I was using VPMage to extract.

I will try to use VPView.

EDIT: Thank you! This solves a lot of problems for me, Fubar!

This was actually a FRED question, because the follow-up is that I need to know where to put the new textures so that FRED understand to use them in a mod folder from the Launcher. I don't know how to make sure it defines custom textures from a mod folder.

\modfolder\data\maps
