It was dark when I got home so I was going to take some arty-farty pictures with the side lights on so looked all dramatic 'n' stuff but the battry has discharged so the ebay pic will have to do:

It's an 1989 Nissan S12 Silvia ZX Turbo. With flippy headlights! Lights go up, lights go down etc
Had a right job driving it home. Had to batter the brakes to avoid getting involved in someone's crash on the M1 (I clenched there), lunatic sat-nav sending me all around the bloody place and the mother of all tailbacks across the pennines.

Hao much? :)
-
Looks nice for an old car.
M1...you live in Britain, Roanoke?
-
Very cool! I'd consider that a classic car...and it looks like its in great shape too!
-
That's one interesting alternative to the overblown popularity of the AE86 Corolla...
:wtf:
-
Never heard of it :p
-
Years ago, I nearly got an AE86 Corolla. This was just before Initial D, Driftorz, Crazy Irish Old School Rally drivers etc. Before people went mad for them and they were just cool J-Tin. Even now I'd love one.

Yeah. If you're wondering, the username is a Babylon 5 reference. I'd never heard of Roanoke County back then!

Paid £1k. Alot for one of these as they usually go for about £700 but it's a low mileage (40K) manual and not red (I hate red) and I just decided I liked it enough to stump up the dough. Plus it's an 80s Nissan, Turbo, Rear wheel drive Coupe. Just my thing.
Having said that,
-
I'd love to park my 09 Corolla next to an AE86 just for fun sometime :)
-
Not exactly a looker as far as I'm concerned, but beauty's in the eye of the beholder, I guess. No idea how it holds up under the hood, but I guess well enough if you went out of your way to get it.
-
Yeah a grands a bit much, did you check Autotrader first?
-
Well you never know. I may get lucky and someone will make a tv show about a young lad delivering food down a montain pass in his S12 and aquiring awesome driving skills in the process.....
It'll be a worth a fortune in a few years!
-
:ick: @ 80's Nissan's only one step up from Datsuns
You said you crossed the Pennines, the right way or the wrong way?
Right = heading west
Wrong = heading east :drevil:

Funny that's where I live, Congrats on your acquisition all the same.

Hmrrmmmm sounds vaguely familiar... :D
Would this S12 and its driver also just so happen to be able to beat the likes of the FD, FC, Lan Evo, GT-R, and S2000? :D

Richard Hammond once did a review of cars that would make a fortune in the near-future. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6AjKgRxXfQk)

Well, if it's in good condition on the inside, $2222 isn't that bad...assuming my currency conversion is near enough.

Tofu a big business down south is it? ;)

Those cars have kind of a cult following around here too. I have a friend who is nuts about Silvias. Very nice specimen.
-
Round my way it's all VW Golfs, Mistubishi colts and Ford Escort RSIs etc. And that's if you're "posh" Ie have a job. If not you make do with mopeds

Probably not. I'd be the guy in the back screaming like a girl.
How's your Corolla btw ? Still happy with it ?

I'm thinking of getting a lancer evo. yay or nay?
-
Meh. I'd rather have a Subaru.

Thanks. TBH I'd much rather have an S13 but they were never sold in the UK so finding one that hasn't been full drift prep is tricky.

Dunno. Try it. Personally, of the 4WD rally brigade, I'd have a Sapphire Cosworth.

Which one?
-
Not the one with the inverted front, hopefully.

You mean the Evo X? That one looks amazing! Best looking Lancer yet.
-
Do you now? I'm referring to this one:
I'm not used to seeing a (real) car with an inverted front such as this. It looks elegantly sporty, but I just don't like the front.

Yes thats the X...and I think the front is great! Its supposed to be an aggressive looking sports/econo sedan and thats what it does. Looks great in person too. Test drove a GTS two years ago now...it was good but the weight was too much for the 150hp engine in the GTS. The Ralliart and Evolution are of course much better suited to that chassis' weight.
-
A Silvia? Not bad. It's no Z-car, but not bad at all.
-
I was thinking of either the x or the IX or whatever version will be out by the time I get to buy.
anybody know which has better specs, the X or the IX?
