Title: Transfering Fred Documents
Post by: Arkangel on October 24, 2008, 07:51:25 pm
Okay long story short i have a fred document on my laptop i want to transfer to my computer. Know idea wheres my USB, dunno how to transfer via ethernet so i decided to email it to myself.... cept it emails it as a text document. So i tried my file sharing site. Uploaded from laptop, downloaded on computer; still a bloody text document.

Why does this happen? And how can i get the fred document?

FS2 mission and campaign files are essentially text documents to begin with; you could build an entire mission in Notepad without opening FRED if you wanted to (though why you would want to is another question entirely).  As long as you rename the file to include the proper file extension, FRED should have no problems with it.

Or you could just upload it to a file hosting site such as mediafire and download it to your desktop.

Make sure show display attachments inline (or whatever your email program calls it)  is disabled in your email and then you should get it as a file.  Otherwise just select all the text and save it as a file.  Option 3 is to zip it, send it, and unzip it.

As long as it's a campaign that'll work. If not try .fs2
