Title: How far can you throw the average <100g stone?
Post by: Excalibur on October 29, 2008, 11:17:29 pm
Exactly what it says. I think they should include this in the Olympics, since the javelin and discus have limitations and does not necessarily show actual throwing ability, as I can - is the word testify?

I can throw in the 50-60 metre range the average stone, but I can only throw a normal javelin about 20m, a bamboo cane 30m, discus about 30m as well.

Also post your build, height(arm length, i.e. short, long etc.) and age if you wish to. Mine: slight, long, 17.

(The reason I posted this is because it's the one physical thing I am better at than most people.)

Interesting idea, if somewhat random.  I'll give it a try tomorrow and see how well I do.

mmmmmmm now the rules are a little hazy are we taking that the 1st moment the stone touches the ground its over or do we count the rebounds?

any way i should be able o throw it around  70/75 metres    (1m90:; medium fast right arm with a little swing)

it has a lot to do with the type of stone too.

i can throw a smooth, flat stone significantly further than a round, uneven stone

Okay, a round stone that doesn't have any aerodynamic advantage, whe it hits the ground. You cannot stand on top of a 500m cliff with a large hill for it to roll down. You cannot throw it into a plane or bird, or out of a plane or bird. You may not use a catapult, balista, bow and arrow, trebuchet, gun or a cannon. You may not use any other device that is not part of your biological make-up. No, you may not be a cyborg. You may not wait for 300km/h winds to whip up. You may not throw it into a tornado. You cannot throw it while moving at any velocity other than 0m/s relative to the ground that the stone lands on, and the measuring device...............need anything else?......Oh, and no usage of telekentic powers or force fields is permitted...I think I need a rest....
