Title: Searching for beta testers and proofreaders
Post by: Kinman on November 06, 2008, 02:25:04 pm

Hi, I'm creating myself a new FS2 campaign named Acts of desperation.
I started at the beginning of this week with the first missions, but in a few days I'll need the help of some beta testers and proofreaders for the two prologue missions.

Requirements for the proofreaders:
 - Checking the correct use of tense and other grammatical mistakes
 - Correct comma placement (I think here's a lot of work to do)
 - Check if the used vocabs are adequate

What I can do as reward:
 - Translating English -> German
 - Checking German texts
 - Beta testing your missions/campaigns
 - Show your (nick) name in the credits (if you want)

FS2 requirements:
 - FS2 SCP 3.6.10 Build 4926
 - mediavps

What's the campaign about?
A small fleet must investigate shivan space. It starts simultaneous with the evacuation of the 3rd fleet hq - FS2 act 3, mission 7 (http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Dunkerque)

How long is the campaign? How frequently missions will be released for testing?
It will be about 15-25 mission. I don't know the exact number yet, because I'm still in the story developing phase.
Of course I've an overall plan, but I work out the details for a few missions and then I create them.
My plan is to release the missions in a 10-14 day period. It will (hopefully) be 3-4 missions each period.

Contact information:
I'm accessible via PN on this board, via e-mail and via ICQ.
The missions will be provided on a webspace, so you'll get a download link for them.

I hope I haven't forgot anything...
If you're interrested just reply to this topic or send me an e-mail.

Thanks, Kinman

Sounds like an intriguing concept...Into the Lion's Den plus an extra jump, I take it?  I'd be willing to proofread a few missions; I'm enough of a grammar Nazi that it shouldn't be too great of a task. :p

If you need a FREDer I can do some on my spare time.

I can beta test anything you need; my computer can handle the most recent MVPs and any build of FSO. I can proofread too; people say I have some really good grammatical skills, and I tend to have a rather massive vocabulary.

I can also offer some story idea offering if you like, or editing there (such as patching up plot holes). I have never FREDed before, but I can safely say I am proficient with how to FRED, if you needed me for an emergency.

Yeah, I may be only 14, but I know a thing or two :P

I'll leave proofreading to you. I might also be able to beta test as well as FRED.

Sounds good too me, dragonsniper. Is that all you need, Kinman? Just proofreading and beta testing? If I'm not mistaken, I think most projects usually involve more people...

Thank you for your offers.
At the moment story writing and FREDing goes hand in hand, so I'm not running out of capacity till yet. But this might be changing during the development.
What I'll really need in future are voice actor and I'll start a request as soon as I worked out all characters.

All beta testers will get a PN as soon as there's something to test.
I'll divide the proofreading part over more people, so there's not too much work for one person.

Greetings, Kinman

Yes I want to - hopefully I'll find enough voice actors...
