I would like to start by informing you that me and a couple friends (Grunt and Sacridshadow) are making a mod based long after the events in FS2. And, I have some plans for this mod and future branches of the storyline we've developed. So, I need a few model conversions as I can't convert them from cob to/from 3ds (I use Milkshape. It's an easier modeling tool for me).

I would like to have the Orion converted so I can put beam holes in the hull (FS2 intro for an example during the battle and the very end of cinematic intro), and the Knossus so I can create a Super Gate for a corporation in the storyline. And, I would like the following model converted. It is the BST Mirona, a heavily upgraded Argo designed to withstand punishment as it gets to a cruiser or destroyer and board, getting out in one piece. Grunt (goes my zombie2279 on Hiveworkshop) will be making the tables for it and I will apply the texture. (Model will be uploaded soon, I just need to find someone willing to do the conversions)

And, as is my standards, I will give credit on the site and in the credits for the mod. Thank you.

Edit (11-10-08): Upon request of the campaign leader, zombie, I have lowered the amount of turrets to about 9. :/ So, That will be the one to be converted now. They are in the same format as the previous versions. Please, if anyone can convert them and post them either in my e-mail ([email protected]) or in this thread (your choice), I would be most thankful.

I will note that the site is not nearly as updated as the user group we are using to plan the thread etc, but the mod is well underway. If, at any time, there are more models to be convered, I will request in this thread again. As always, credit will be given to anyone who converts the models for the campaign. Thank you.

Ok, I have a friend who made a ship for the same mod. And he would like for it to be converted. I also got a pic of the textured ship (uses the deimos texture pretty well, but I flipped one side to make the drone look better) So, here is the link to the ship and the modified texture:

Model is in 3ds format and the texture is in tga. for viewing purposes, etc. I can convert the texture, but the tga is there in case you want to see what it looks like in 3D

I recall playing a mod which had an orion with the hole in it. I can't remember off the top of my head which mod it was. :(

hmmm... Ok. Well, I had planned on making a hole-y Orion with many docking bays in the holes so the Shivan fighters could latch onto it for a massive ambush on the players convoy missions. :P And the mission is planned to have stealth fighters! ^ ^

Well, thanks for telling me about it. :P It tells me just how unorigional I am. XD

Uploading the Mirona for anyone who is willing to convert it to cob for me. (Due credit will be given with much appreciation. =D) It will be in a rar file and a zip file on the mod's site. Ok? I will post it on the main page temporarily (until someone converts it). Thanks! =D

Well, I'd kinda like to be able to have multiple docking points for the orion to be infested by shivans to allow for a swarm on the convoy if FRED allows such a thing... probably not though, so just a massive hole in the back and a diagonal one up front is what I'm after. :/

Anyway, if anyone who plans on converting the models I requested or my model, I have updated the front page of the mod's site to show the transport's zip and rar files. So, it ought to be turreted now. :P

hmmm..... I dunno. So, the Orion with the hole in it could simply luanch the shivan figters? That's an interesting idea actually. And I want to make sure that the Orion remains it's destryed look, so... that could work! =D

transcend has the best orion, IMO. but if you want one acurate to the opening cutscene, FOW is the right one.

Yeah people are pretty flexible around here for FS2 stuff (not outsourced models), so the main thing is CREDIT.
If you use someone's work make sure people know it's theirs and not yours.

Quite liberating as opposed to 99% of gaming communities. :)

Yep. I know people like to be reconized for their work, and i am the type to give credit where due (as shown on hiveworkshop, it's a Warcraft 3 modding site). So, right now, the question is: Is anyone going to do this request. lol I do my best to find as many places where I can put the credit without spamming it. :P

Edit: Ok, I have added a hip to be converted. A friend of mine made it for the mod, and, for him NOT being a modeler, he has it down. :P I will even include a pic. it can be found in the first post at the bottom. Thank you for your attention. :P

The Orion hulk already has a working fighterbay, altough you could add more paths.
And it also has several working turrets.

For a really "destroyed debris" look, turn off it's glowmaps on mission start with a SEXP.

K since no one replied I just did it.
Forgot about centerpoint first time around and I re-sized it as well. Right now it's as big as a fighter.
All files included so you can alter it later if unsatisfied...

I don't need any credit, it's just a bsic converion to pof format.
The only reason I give myself credit at all is for the TC's as project converter.

~Bump~ Hmmm... the ship cannot be harmed. D: any weapon fire goes right through it. It isn't a problem with the tables, but the conversion. I think it NEEDS to be redone so it can be hit. As cool as ghost ships are, they get annoying too. :P

Ummm, a basic pof conversion is RAW, you add weapons,shields, thrusters ect..

edit your table and set shield to ZERO or add a shield mesh...

I'm assuming you used a fighter table to test your pof?

I'd have to ask the guy who made the table if he did.  And, I was the one with added weapons, systems, etc. so I tend to think that  did it right. But how would one fix the problem if a unhittable hull (lasers, ships go right through it)?

I did...

I deleted it after I posted the link so I DL'ed it just now and in 5 mins tested it, it took hits and exploded just fine.
Fire your table guy. Table I used was standard Herc (for testing purposes)...

hmmm... well, I guess I need to test it myself. XD I don't have the tables, so I can't test it at the moment. :P
Problem with firing the table maker: He's heading the mod and has fixed A LOT of FRED and Freespace 2 problems that pop up from tables I get from other people models. :/

you don't have the mod tables or fs2 tables?

If you have fs2 you can simply extract them to a data folder ect ect...
[edit] now I'm confused, what were you firing it at with?Normal tables or modded ones? If modded ones, then you HAVE the tables, otherwise it would be impossible to make teh statement you did...

Unless you played it over at his house?


Anyway, a key rule in modding is baby steps, make sure A works before going to B, then C then D ect...

Lots of redundancy, but if you don't do it, at times it comes back to bite you in the arse...

Perhaps I didn't explain it very well. Sorry if I didn't. But I am not the one who did the table modifications. This is because zombie wanted it a certain way he had in mind and knew how to do it. Now, something had gone wrong somewhere and the ship is now a ghost. XD
