What nebulas do you add to get this effect?
What do the # of stars\planets do? It goes IIRC, from 0-5000 ?
-
Bump me silly.
-
you could try using the nbackred and mixing some stuff, some orange-ish clouds would burst out some times but orange orange... I dont know, maybe there's some table you need to hack to get that single color.
-
Once I made a totally orange nebula - it looked funky with a GVD Typhon in it...and deadly. I forgot how, but it can be done with just retail stuff. btw, it was orange orange, everything was, no green, no blue, etc. Mabye I added lots of red and green stuff. Actually, it is so old that I forgot whether there were slight green poofs in it. But I know it was very orange.
# stars is obvious, as for # of planets, I forgot. I thought planets were added manually, so I don't see why they would need a "value" for that.

Here's some orange fog from Tachyon the Fringe...
if you'd like some for comparison purposes.

Any idea on how to remake the nebula?
-
One of those pics make it look like the orange could be a result of the nebula mixing with that big sun.
-
Well what Tach did was use a combination of pcx images in something
similar to overlay layers. I'm not sure if FS2 can do the same thing.
If you'd like I can try to gather up the images if you'd like to give it a shot.
If you're successful, I would like to know what was done to pull it off though.
It'd help my mod as well, we're just not to the point of worrying about making
environmental graphics yet.
A disclaimer of sorts though... most people complained about the fog as it was harder
to aim in. There is of course a group, including myself, that liked the fog but we're in the minority.

What sun?
JGZinv -My pics were a clean default FS2 install. No special SCP overlay thing. So if your talking about what im talking about, then sure.
-
What I was talking about is how Tachyon handled fog/nebulas, I have no clue if SCP
or FS2 retail uses an overlay method to make fog.
I've attached the files that might be of use.
From what I gather, the black and white fog files from 1 to 32 are animation frames
for making the fog motion effect. The colored files should be the fog itself over the top of the animation.
Past that - I don't know. Here's a background control file fog entry from Tachyon:
[MAIN]
AMBIENT_LIGHT = 168
GAMMA = 128
SATURATION = 128
RGB = 167,129,76
LIGHTNING = 1
LIGHTNING_AMBIENT_LIGHT = 100
LIGHTNING_LIGHT_SRC = 338,3.580
[FOG]
ENABLED = 1
MIN = 15000
MAX = 30000
RGB = 180,60,20
CLOUD_RGB = 128,128,128
PCX = foglorng.pcx
FRONT_RGB = 200,180,20
You may find similar settings may help make it work properly.

Well this actually took me longer to run FRED (accidentally ran the debug build) then it did to get the effect.

What did my eyes ever do to you? :eek:
-
What do i do with the FS2 style? And what nebulas did you add? IIRC in default FRED2 (fred or fred2) they had like 30 nebulas and 20 suns to choose from, you could pick like 5-10 of each?
What nebula names do i add to get a similar effect, FUBAR-BDHR.
JGZinv - sorry but i have No idea where to begin ....

Try downloading the .fs2 file I attached and opening it up.
