Title: some helpful original artwork (?)
Post by: Baschl on November 12, 2008, 09:55:52 am
Hey, my first post - exciting  :P
Yesterday I found this website, it´s from the original designer of the AA-turrets and the main batteries.

http://www.pgcg.net/portfolio.html (http://www.pgcg.net/portfolio.html)

Don´t know if you guys have already seen these pictures, but cannot be wrong to post ^^ . Have a look pic "(C)", didn´t know the AA´s are movable in the horizontal, although makes sense ^^ .
My second discovery is a model kit of the Valkyrie. It´s much more detailed than every 3D-wip i´ve ever seen at scifi-meshes.com & co.

Hope I could help you with these pics. But even without, you do a great work here and i´m excited of your first release. Call me if you need another german translator  ;7

Have a nice day,
Baschl

Once it's in game.

Agreed, I'd much rather show it around once it's fully textured and ported to the game.

Yeah, I´m really anxious to see your finished Valk. Like this old battleship design with all this little artillery-towers.
Maybe we can use this thread for collecting such pics, so the whole community can profit by them as an inspiration to build their own little ships  :D
f.e. I have some pics of the Berzerk and concept drawings that some of you may not have seen yet (that´s no promise  :P ) ...

berzerk I think is pretty well covered.

There's some very nice shots of valk in razor too.

While i'm sure galactica is well covered, that site shows some nice shots of the refinery ship.

Wow, sounds like I´ve found a fantastic way finding out which ships are already done - and don´t know about until now  ;7

We've not taken the wraps off the Valkyrie yet so only a few people knew that we had her already.

Only a few people bother to actually read that stuff. :p

yeah, that's sad.
It's like with the read-me files in mods, applications, whatever, no one ever reads them.
It's probably better to name 'em DO-NOT-READ-ME file. :P

Might as well put a request out there, i was looking for a piece of concept art from TOS on the net looks similar to Ralph McQuarrie original stuff but i don't think it's his.  It's a shot of what appears to be a Colonial air base being attacked by Cylons.  There are some pointy nosed Vipers and buxom female pilots in tight flight suits running to their awaiting craft.  Any help in this regard would be much obliged.

I found a pic that shows the scene that you've described on this site, it's an artwork by Frank Frazetta. Richard Hatch used it as cover for his BSG novel "Rebellion". There is a lot more stuff there, as well as dozens of links ( in the interviews section are also a lot of links to different artwork sites, some of 'em are dead, sadly).

Wasn't a similar scene in Richard Hatchs trailer of the second coming?
I remember vaguely that there was a attack on something that looks like a groundbase.

You know, I think I have those lying around somewhere.

Did you know they actually exist?

1) That's not the kind of artwork under discussion
2) If you're talking about the photos that someone on GW was circulating they're not of her anyway and I'd rather not have Diaspora associated with the spreading of nasty rumours that they are.

They weren't?

I feel cheated :-(
