Title: Grapgics glitch
Post by: delusion on November 13, 2008, 11:29:18 am
Howdy, Freespace and Freespace 2 ROCK!!! I prefer them to most new space sims out now. I recently upgraded my brothers cpu and that kicked up some problems. There are no stars in space and the targeting reticule disappears. I can just about make out the very corners of them but thats it. Also the green grid lines that appear on the briefing screen are almost invisible. I've tried changing the graphics settings and running in compatability mode and tried the different settings in the compatability mode window but it doesn't make a difference. It ran fine on 3.20 ghz pentium single core, 1 gb ram, nvidia 6300, windows xp service pack 2. I upgraded it to zotac 9600 amp edition and 4 gb ram. windows only recognises 3gb of ram and I took one of his 2 gb strips out and it still didn't make a difference. Can someone plz help as I don't know what else to try.

First, I think you were looking for the abbreviation GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) instead of CPU (Central Processing Unit). Just thought I'd point that out.

Then, this sort of sounds like a resolution or colour problem. Do you notice any similar issues with other games? Have you installed the latest drivers for the GPU? If yes, have you tried older ones?
