Title: The Ultimate Home
Post by: ShivanEmperor on November 15, 2008, 07:36:17 am
What would your idea of the ultimate home be? What would there be in it? What features? What floors? How many bathrooms or bedrooms? Basically your idea of the perfect place to live. If it is a place that already exists then you can allways post a picture if you want!

Here is my idea:

A Huge Mansion
5 Baths In Total
10 Beds In Total
A Theater
2 Bars
2 Lounges
1 Study
1 Mogul Office
1 Astro Observation Room (A room where several seats just look upwards with nice stars and other images projected onto the roof)
1 House Wide Arteficially Inteligent Computer
3 TV Rooms
1 HouseWide Holographic Alteration System (Which allows you to re-design the house using holograms which are then sent downstairs to...)
1 Robot Servant Storage Area
1 Large Library
2 Large Swimming Pools (Indoors and Outdoors)
1 Grand Hall (With 2 staircases)
1 Grand Lounge (With fireplace, couches, coffee tables, carpets, rugs, and more!)
1 Grand Dinning Room (With 30 Seats)
1 Grand Mess Hall
1 Kitchen
1 Family Dinning Room
70 Acre Garden with ponds (With fish), flower beds, fountains, statues, sculptures, greenhouses and more!
Parking for 50 cars

That's my idea. What's yours?

And then we all laugh when the IRS comes a-knockin'

Seriously, do you need something that big? Who outside of men with serious confidence issues and the Batman would need - or even want - a massive mansion? All those resources going to waste. It's pretentious, wasteful, and downright cliche.

Give me a small villa - maybe no more than 3 or 4 rooms - in rural Tuscany, with only minor comforts; old, comfy furniture, lots of good books, and a portable telescope. Maybe some vineyard acreage. Ultimately just a nice, isolated, ultimately quiet home. No massive TV, no cock-on-wheels to get around in, as little crap as possible.

Keep your monuments to excess, I just want some ****ing serenity.

That... or a missile base (http://www.themissilebase.com/). I'd just have to watch out for Deep Crows.

The point of this thread is to just share your thoughts of your idea of your ultimate dream home. Nothing more.

The White House (minus annoying aides and duties)

Where did that big red button go?

Ultimate Dream Home, eh?

My closest answer at the moment is one that a girl I marry and myself decide to live in, with the furniture painted in a colour she likes and a colour I like.

I'm still 17, though.

I'd like a lot of land in the mountains (the Alps or the Appalachians; can't decide. They're very different though) but not a ridiculous amount. A descent sized villa but a few rooms that must include: a study, another room filled with books/scores/sheet music (accessible through the study only), a small recital hall (not a huge concert hall, a room with a stage big enough to fit a piano and a few players and 30 or 40 seats), along with the other amenities like bathrooms, etc.

Oh, and the house must come with a clarinet, bass clarinet, oboe, English horn, euphonium, trombone, flute, cello, viola, string bass, harp, (I'll bring my own violin) and preferably a Steinway grand (I'll settle for a baby grand).

The clarinets must be top of the line Buffet, the oboe and English Horn by Loree. The others can be of any suitable high quality make.

My study/practice room must have no books on the walls (books are in a separate library for acoustic reasons) and a window with a wonderful view.

I don't really care how big the house as a whole is, but one thing I'd absolutely kill for is a totally *****in' home theater room.  Comfy seating, some sort of ridiculously big-screen TV/projector, surround sound, gobs of shelf space for my ever-burgeoning DVD/game collection, the whole works.  I place a great deal of value on my digital entertainment, and never having owned anything proper to enjoy it on is rather irksome to me.  I kind of doubt I'll ever have the money to realize this idea, but you never know.

I'd say a mansion on South Beach, with the rear along the beach. 2-4 car garage (2 wide and 1 or 2 deep), about 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a nice driveway, a kitchen and an up-stairs kitchenette, a small "theater" (HDTV projector, about $50k in good-quality analogue sound system), and some other interesting stuff. Definitely needs a deep in-ground swimming pool (12'+ deep), so I'll have a place to swim that's controlled. Maybe one of those Endless Pools or similar. Small gym and martial arts studio is a must, as well as SECURE storage for various training and decorative weapons and apparel. Final thing is a place for rack-mount computers--about 4 full 48U racks complete with a power system to drive about 100 kW usage. :P Overkill, but if I can afford a mansion on South Beach, I'll have computers crunching 24/7 and I'll have at least 2 cars. I know I'll be getting the family '56 Cadillac DeVille sedan, and if I have that type of space, I'll make an offer to my Uncle for his '86 Buick Grand National coupe for restoration, and probably one good car, like a Volvo, BMW, Audi, or something.

I don't care so much about having a ginormous house, but having a fair amount of undeveloped land would be nice.  Particularly in a mountainous or oceanside location.

At this phase of my life, I wouldn't mind a très chic little apartment in the Village, or maybe Cambridge.

Motorbike + 3 person tent. Or a YT2400 but they don't exist.

Maybe someday I'll be able to retire in a cabin in the Rockies.

Or maybe some beach in California, but that's hopelessly optimistic.

A more realistic choice: A manor somewhere in england.

All that in a <1000m Terran corvette that has the power to evade and destroy Sathanas sized warships and can also land and take off from any planet...

As for the cars, well, you could have drag races on board...or just use them when on a planet...
