Is Inferno only for the Retail FS engine? When I tried to play it after i downloaded it, FS crashed. Thanks for any coments :)
-
It's only for Retail FS.
You can do it with SCP but it is strongly discouraged. Strongly.
-
I can tell...
-
But isn't there a patch that makes it SCP-compatible?
-
It would be nice if there was one.
Could you open each individual mission in FRED_open and convert the saved format to FS_open? Would that help at all?
-
But isn't there a patch that makes it SCP-compatible?
Yeah, for build 3.5.5

a new version that is *coming soon* will compatible with the scp (or atleast the INF scp) and will have better graphics.
-
Won't work for 3.6.10 or 3.6.9?

._.
-
am I wrong?
-
It doesn't work properly, missions are just too messy and in lots of them major bugs make you fail the mission, or even make the mission impossible to win unless you cheat, really I would not recommend you to try the SCP patch.
-
So is Inferno the same as the "Inferno Alliance" or is that a totally different thing?
-
That's a prequel.
-
So is it built for SCP?
-
INFA? yeah.
-
Huh. I have had very little trouble playing Inferno R1 under SCP. And I've done it both with and without the SCP patch. No significant bugs I remember, except maybe the red-alert one...
-
The red-alert bug happens on other campaigns too, though.

I played a mission where a terran fleet was sent to destroy the Uber shivan destroyer (dont remmember the name) and in the text it said that the pilots should disable it's beam turrets but it was unarmed, and also that the friendly destroyers were supposed to be shooting at it but that never happened, the only way to destroy the ship was cheating.

Do you mean the SSD Diablo? :)

yes that's the one, after you destroy it the gigas comes in from the jump node and then nothing else happens but that's supposed to happen because it wasn't finished, isn't it?
EDIT: fixed typo.
-
Uh. No... I sense some serious confusion here.
-

Trust me. Nothing FS-related is ever going to be "Finnished" because
1) Finnish expressions for certain situations lack the balls needed to give it some attitude
2) The vast majority of Finns understand English well enough to fully enjoy FS and related mods/campaigns.
-
but... then that's the ending for the campaign?
-
The campaign was never FINISHED.

Don't be so harsh, Snail. Remember that Rodo is giving a small contribute to INFA. Are you going to replace him as nameplate creator? I don't think so.
Rodo, you may wish to consult the FreeSpace Wiki and check INF related pages.

Don't be so harsh, Snail.
I was pointing out his SPELING.
-
damn, I knew I had to press the spell check button before but somehow I forgot it completely.

Wait until Droid finishes the INFR1 remix, that'll be decent (though no new EA ships... :( )

I hope the issue will be easy to fix thanks to future INFA releases. :)
