I played this over a year ago, I recently reinstalled the new 4.3b and the campaign pack for a bit of space shooting in the B5 universe.
All runs great except when I see the orange jump vortex, I am instantly reduced to 5fps and if I look away I am back at 100+
Does a more recent build fix this?
-
well, wouldn't it be nice we we already had a 4.3b? We poor fellows just have the 3.4b aka final
*getting serious*
well, actually this is not related to the build. It's related to a weak graphic card. At least, in my case .
-
Yes.. 3.4b final.. ;)
I highly doubt my hardware is the problem lol.. getting 100fps in even the most hardcore fights but as soon as someone warps out I am suddenly viewing a slide show.
Also, you wouldn't happen to be the condescending berk I had to listen to in the Flight school mission would you? ;)
-
what is your hardware?
-
oc'd opteron 170, 4 gigs of patriot ddr, 9800gtx etc etc

convinced. It's not his hardware.
Drivers updated and blabla?

I wrote the mission (and the dialoge) yes, but I did not voice act it. Ransom did a fantastic job, especially if you dare screwing up :)
-
me thinking new drivers.
-
and if that doesn't help, start playing around with the options in the launcher.
3D Warp Effect, Adv Lighting and so on. Also, check the experimental flags tab.

Awesome, I'm about to replay it and 'screw up'
-
there are countless possibilities (as in most of my campaigns). I like to actually allow players to completely ignore my stuff and don't break the mission. Try for example firing on a friendly ship ;7
-
I wrote the mission.
*Coughs pointedly*
:p

Rumbled.

 ........attempted K-theft.

stop coughing!
yeah, I actually copied all of your sexps via notepad first. Problem was, it turned out to be a pain in the ass because of some key differences in the way the mission was approached (sim / real) and a few other changes. I ended up redoing 90% of the events.
So while it's technically still based on your mission (AND you are mentioned in the credits), I wrote it ;)
And the most important thing is: Basic Flight by Kara was the first FS training mission I had ever fun with. Usually, Tutorials are sssooooo boring.
The only good Tutorials in Gaming that I know of (right now, writing the post) are Warcraft 3s prolog and Battlefront 2's training mission (which is actually the Battle of Genosis in Ep2)
-
Well given that your tstring.tbl entries largely match mine it's obvious that the mission is still edited from mine. :)
Not that I have a problem as I gave you permission to hack up that mission however you liked. Just don't say you wrote or re-wrote it. Adapted for TBP is a better term. Adaptations can require significant amounts of work (and I'm sure this one did) so it's not belittling the contribution from either of us. :)
Not that I really care. I'm mostly teasing. :p

[newt] He mostly teases at night..............mostly [/newt]
I quite enjoy opening work by yourself and Axem to see how the "cogs fit" inside. Some of it is it's very innovative.

I know. I am too
*putting on and wearing moderator hat*
lets solve this user's problem, back to topic.

I was waiting for the info on the drivers etc.
