*BLEEP*
:necro:
-
Yes, thank you very much for noting that a coder resurrected this thread with the express purpose of fixing a code bug. You powers of observation are staggering.
-
I think that's the second time he's done that to me in this thread too, and I'll say it again. It was relevant, it was only a month ago, so go pound sand. Harder this time.
-
I'll give him a two day vacation to drive home the point.

And, as was said before, it's only a month. More of a bump than a necro, in my opinion.
-
****, if people aren't going to post something relevant don't post anything at all.
Welcome beams have the rule that the poster must help the new person (if they're asking a question) or at least contribute to the conversation, why are these stupid Necro-beams not held to the same standards?
-
Another example that whenever a necro-beam appears, there's always dispute over it's appearance. :doubt:
-
Not true, if someone res's a year old thread to say, hur hur, I concur, and nothing else, it's perfectly appropriate. But you should also explain to that person that it's bad etiquette to resurrect a year old thread. The beam is decoration for the comment, not the comment itself. That's what n00bs keep forgetting.
-
Apparently it's also bad form to Necro yourself, just :bump:
(not that you have Necro's yourself, i'm just saying :) )
-
Bleh. Thread split and locked.
If someone bumps a sticky thread, it's not a necro. If someone bumps an old thread with a post that is solidly on topic and applicable to the old thread it's not a necro. If someone bumps an old thread and provides an answer to a question that the original poster expected and still expects to be answered, it's not a necro.
A "necro", by definition, is only applicable to a thread that is so old that it's effectively dead. As a rule of thumb, assume that a necro does not occur unless the last post in the bumped thread is more than a year old.
