I don't know why but I can't make contributions anymore.
Whenever I want to edit a page both Firefox and IE pop up a download bar and make me download a file called "index.php". What should I do? Does it have something to do with my preferences?
Thanks in advance for your help. :)

Something to do with database problems I think.
-
Are you refering to the Wiki's database? How's it possible that the others can modify pages while I can't?
-
Any news? :(

Morale: -1
Any chance of solving this problem? I can't create new articles nor I can make changes to the bottom parts of them(only to subparts located below). Do you know how to solve this issue?
-
Sorry, I don't typically follow boards in this category so I haven't seen this thread before.
Nobody else is having the same problem as Mobius? Can you give me an example of what page in particular you've been trying to edit and what you're trying to change in said page? Does the problem occur in every page or just a few/one? Also, can you please try editing from another computer?
I couldn't reproduce the error by trying to modify one page at least.
-
It happens whenever I try to edit or create a new page. Whenever I try to do it a small DL windows pops up and tells me to DL a file called "index.php".
I'll try to make edits from another computer, but I don't see the point in doing it... The problem is that I can no longer contribute to the Wiki as I used(and wanted) to. :(
-
Try editing from a different computer.
-
Yeah, it'd help a lot with troubleshooting if we know if the problem is only on your computer.
And by the way, this is wrong board for this topic, I'm moving it over to support board.

I don't' use IE so can't say much about it, but if Firefox (for some reason) gives you a download popup window with .php files, it should also have the option of opening the file with an application (Firefox preferrably).
-
I use Firefox. I tried with IE and got the same issue. Firefox is more disturbing because upon DLing the index several blank pages appear and I have to close them all if I don't want to slow down the PC.
I tried opening the index file months ago. Nothing happened. I tried to do it a few seconds ago...and got nothing than the storm of blank pages.

I used to have the same problem. On Safari. On a Korean website. However, mine was a little better because it loaded the actual page in addition to asking me if I wanted to download the file.
Have you tried to copy and paste the URL into the address bar?

Yep, but nothing has changed. :blah:
-
Changes are that the problem is limited to your computer, as no-one else seems to have the problem. Hence I would suspect anti-virus, firewall or any other anti-malware software. I don't know what software could cause this kind of problem, but the few I mentioned would be the usual suspects.
-
Firewall is not active so the problem might be connected to the current antivirus of mine, ESET NOD32...
I'm not familiar with it and I have no clue on the settings that might be causing the problem. If you know/have ESET NOD32 I'd be glad to receive hints from you. :)
-
If you save the file, what does it contain?
-
Opening the file? It crashes Firefox by opening an infinite number of blank pages.
:blah:

In notepad (or your text editor of choice)?
-
That's what I get from one of the files:
[Process]
Type=Edit text
Engine=MediaWiki
Script=http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php
Server=http://www.hard-light.net
Path=/wiki
Special namespace=Speciale
[File]
Extension=wiki
URL=http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php?title=Retconning_In_FreeSpace&action=edit&internaledit=true
The others are empty...
-
Just got this in the Wiki:
Errore interno (Italian for "Internal error")
Da (From) FreeSpace Wiki.
Vai a: navigazione, ricerca (Go to: navigation, search)
Set $wgShowExceptionDetails = true; at the bottom of LocalSettings.php to show detailed debugging information.
-
Looks like I can edit pages now...good news indeed... :)
-
As far as I know, the wiki has not been touched, Whatever changed, changed on your end.
-
Now I am having problems. When I try to edit a section of the Wiki, I get an Internal Error. Editing articles is no problem.
-
I get an error if I try to edit a section, but if I try to edit the whole article, it works. Weird.

Yeah, that's what I meant but I'm terrible at expressing meeself.
-
I get errors, but they don't prevent me from editing. I click a second time to solve the problem.

That's what I get when trying to edit a page. Refreshing or reopenning the page doesn't help.
-
I have now added that setting to the bottom of LocalSettings.php. It doesn't show anything helpful. In the meantime, edit the whole page rather than a section of it.

What that does, Goober, is to show debugging information. That works in the vein of fs2open.log from how I see it; it was never meant to solve the problem.

I believe you missed the entire point of my post.

I didn't. I was just pointing that out.
