The Royal Society of Chemistry (http://www.rsc.org/AboutUs/News/PressReleases/2008/Number10Petition.asp) is having a go at it for deliberately dropping standards to improve appearances of pass rates.
The RSC has powerful evidence of the decline in standards, adding to the revelation that students are able to receive a "good pass" with a mark of 20%
A "good pass" with only 20%? Pathetic.

In our Year 11 Physics class we could pass the complex part as long as we got one mark. But that's a C, which, as I'm sure you know, is just a sound. The other two bits you could fail.
But that's Australia, not UK.
