Who's played it? Is it any good, how in depth etc...
I ask because i'm after a Multip[layer game for my little bro and i to play lan-multi. But we've done the whole sven co-op / Dawn of war / FreeSpace thing and i fancy a different Genre and Gal-Civ was always worth a giggle so...
-
iirc Gal Civ 2 is single player-only unless you use the Hot Seat hack, but I may be wrong.
However, the AI is phenomenal and the game is very good imo.

I have GC2: Dread Lords, and I'm not buying Twilight of Arnor. There's no multiplayer in the game (despite many requests for the feature), and the hotseat cheat (not hack) is ridiculously cumbersome to work with. The game gets repetitive after a few games, and the AI really cheats when you set it above 'easy'.
Get the demo, and play to your hearts content, because that's pretty much it.
:EDIT:
By the way, they won't let you install the latest GC2:DL patch using the Stardock updater. They're making you install a whole new downloading program.

The AI doesn't cheat until you set it above "challenging".

The Yor (30 turns in and having black hole guns) beg to differ.*
*On normal difficulty.
-
Your technology speed was not on ultra high was it? Or, it could have been a railgun or mid-tier missile that looks like a black hole eruptor.
-
Technology was set to slow, actually. And I checked the ship loadouts, they had blackhole guns. So either that super-event occured without notifying me, or they cheated.
-
Well i managed to get gold collectors edition for a pretty reasonable price today..
I'll give it a go, then go back to pax imperia

pretty decent game still a few bugs as usual in it! Could of been better. more detailed species tech and stuff.
