I need help gluing thruster glows...how do you set them in TrueSpace?
-
Truespace? You don't use truespace to attach thruster glows, you do it with PCS :)
-
but how when I cant see where the hell they are going

Ok... I don't quite understand what you mean. I was thinking about the engine glows that are added after converting...

I just want the glow and not the actually thruster ani effect and I dont know how to do it

That's the most simple thing in the world. Just open your model in PCS, and then under the section "engines" you can add thrusters, and glowpoints for them. Easy as pie.
-
Do you mean you dont know where to put them as you cant see the model in PCS?
well i just use modelview and click add gunpoint, get it to where i want the thruster glow to be and then type the numbers for it into PCS.
I dont know if that is the right way to do it, but thats how i do it to test some models as i'm no converter ...........
-
tried that didnt work
-
If Wildlife's method doesn't work, I'm stumped... :(

Do you mean only the glow (the color) if so, open up the vp file and extract the thrusterglow pcx
-
then do what with it?
-
Don't think TS can do that, I mean, it can't even texture a ship using anything but the solid colors it comes with!
Do that in an imaging program, such as Ultimate Paint (pretty cheap costing program)

Wat do u mean
-
You know when in other modeling programs, you can make, let's say, a .bmp, an then you can wrap it around the object to texture it?
Well, in TS, you can't do that (at least to my knowledge) and, instead, you have to "paint" the object with solid colors, which sucks:(
-
PCS has an auto-generate code for glowpoints
-
For Thruster glows of Cap-Ships, use Modelview and add a subsystem and call it nothing (it will be deleted later). Make the radius what you want the radius of the engine to be and move it to where it looks good. Then just use those coordinates in PCS for the engine glow and its radius.
Hope this is some help

TS allows for texture mapping, I don't understand how you think it doesn't. Read the readmes on UV mapping and texture mapping in TS.

Believe me, TS can do mapping. still, it sux.

eh? what?

Some of you here just don't get the Engine Glow bit. The engine glows always are facing the camera, they are a PCX image in the VP or one you make. Thats why you need PCS AND MODVIEW, Modview to first add a gun piont or something to see where you want the engine glows and then use the cordenits in PCS, just like untouchable said. YOU CAN NOT PUT THEM ON IN A MODELER PROGRAM(i.e. trueSpace)!
