Title: set-camera-fov optimal value?
Post by: FreeSpaceFreak on December 13, 2008, 06:29:51 am
Is there an "optimal value" to set the camera to, and have no distortion at the edges of the screen? Or is that value different for every resolution?
I'm making a cutscene where the camera turns towards a jump node, but the node looks like an egg.

I use .88 and I'm happy with the effect it gives.

wait you are talking about a freeded cutscene in combo with a -fov ?

To ensure that everyone sees the cutscene more or less the same, I'm using the set-camera-fov SEXP. That way, a ship that is supposed to look close by (small camera angle) will not look small (big camera angle) with other launcher settings, I hope.

if the node is too close to the borders then it will always look odd, you can try placing it somewhere else.

try with high and low values, look how it changes and maybe you can get a good effect but I doubt it will look good, any fov setting that makes the borders look good will make you central view a disaster.
