Title: Ship info and coordinates not showing correctly in FRED
Post by: Nawyria on December 14, 2008, 05:09:41 pm
Hello everyone,

When using the RED 2 Open editor with the -fredhtl command line parameter, the ship information and coordinates usually display on top of models in RED instead shift around as the camera angle changes. Unfortunately, along with the block of information, the selection anchor point also shifts, meaning I have to click somewhere roughly left and above the block of text in FRED to select an object whose model is off to the side. I anyone else experiencing this problem or does anyone know how to fix it?

I don't think you need that command line anymore.

Go to the view menu and turn off "Show ship models" As long as "Show Ship outlines" is still on you'll get a wireframe view of the ships which are almost as easy to identify as the models and they're in the right place (plus they're even colour coded by IFF, so in some cases it's even easier to tell ships apart.

Using wireframes seems to work, yes. However, the models as a whole now move around with the text and are no longer positioned at the end of their position indicators. Ahh well, it'll do.
