I had issues before this but those are all sorted out, and this is the last issue, it lies within something that has to do with the lighting effects or textures on the sun, ships propulsion system, and rockets. There's also one where you can see a red box on the enemy ship from my plasma fire.
Help would be greatly appreciated, I've done all I could the past 2 days to figure it out and I'm stumped so are some of the people in the IRC channel.

Found root pack 'E:\Freespace2\mediavps\mv_fsport.vp' with a checksum of 0x7bb2c9a1
I see the new spankin' FSPort MediaVPs are out. However, you should not have them in your \freespace2\mediavps\ folder, since they will interfere with many things while in that folder.
Using 'Generic Hardware' as OpenAL sound device...
Switch to Generic Software.
As for those screens, I'd take a wild guess at hardware insufficiency or hardware problems. It could be that either your GPU can't handle all the MediaVPs or that there are overheating problems or such.

Well, if it was hardware related or heating issues, it wouldn't be my issue. I can run Crysis fine, most new games but for some reason open source OpenGL projects don't seem to agree with my PC. Such as Ultimate Descent, All of the new openGL ports for quake 1 and 2. if I just run them normally they are fine. But for some reason it's always an older port. The only one I've seemed to get to work for Quake 2 is the darkplaces mod with a huge 2-3 GB high super high res pk3 file. which as i can see has gone FAR beyond the textures in FSO. Don't know why Darkplaces seems to be the only one to work with quake2 anymore. and anything older than that just doesnt work. Whoever did the port with the darkplaces engine did a good job making it compatible with a lot of the newer cards. I only wish i could get the Textures in the propulsion to work right.

oh and updated the screenshots.
oh and about openAL, it doesnt really make a difference what i have it set to... I don't notice any changes and the file "mv_fsport.vp" is moved. So if it improved that much just moving some files around... couldnt it be a file?

At least some of these shots look incredibly similar to some issues I've seen pop up that I described in this (http://scp.indiegames.us/mantis/view.php?id=1789) Mantis bug. I'm kind of stumped on it at the moment, but maybe it's related to whatever you're experiencing.

K, but usually one is more likely to experience problems if it is set to something other than Generic Software.
I don't notice any changes and the file "mv_fsport.vp" is moved.
Even if mv_fsport wasn't causing issues (yet), it is best to keep any and all mods in separate subfolders.

Well everything is where is belongs now, thanks to the people on IRC ;)
It was just that one file out of place you guys saw, even though it was in the wrong folder moving it didn't make a difference in anything at all.
Everything is still the same and I've done all I can with the knowledge I do have with troubleshooting, I did all i could to find something hardware-wise to be a problem and i didn't find anything wrong.
