Does anyone have any idea where the motherships guns are placed? A picture showing the placement of the guns would be nice, though any kind of answer would be appreciated.
I need to know this for both the Kushan and Taiidan motherships.
-
Theyre really hard to see, on both..
From what I can tell, they're along the edges on the Tai, with a few on the top and bottom somewhere. The Kushan one, they seem to be along the front and back edge (going up and down) and some above and below the hangars/resourcer dock points...
-
there are Black area's on the Kushan Mothership where they are..
2 are front mounted 2 are back mounted and 1 is mounted just above the fighter launch bay.
i still havent found the Taiidan one's... (heh its been like 1 year since i began playing this game)
-
Yep, I found them now, I just put beam weapons on them in HW, makes them a whole lot easier to see :D
Thorn was pretty much right about the placement, though I'm probably going to put a whole lot short range defense turrets all around them, 'cause they're so damned big.
-
You can't really see them, they just fire.
-
Well just give the turrets a sort of weapon like a morning star... In HW, the mothership has a projectile that is kenetic, like the morning star... and since the morning star is long range in FS2, i think it should suffice if you decrease the fire rate and increase the damage a bit.

You can take the small turrets of the kuun laan, and the weapon for it is them AF massdriver

Speaking of that, we need to find someone to put her together...
We have the Faal-Corum.

Ok i'l do it:)

so.. you are gonna make the Kunn-Lan Modular ?
-
No, that would mean we'd have to make a bunch of different models. We could have three, one for early on, one for midgame, and one for when it gets the siege cannon. We can also make it so the modules can be destroyed...

Hmm. How about making it so, that the modules can be destroyed, they leave no visible debris(on the ship model, I mean) and then make one model with all the modules in place, and then mission designers can simply destroy those unneeded modules before the start of the mission?

*smacks forehead*
I'm an idiot...
Yeah, that would work...

The mission designer wouldn't even need to destroy them. Just set the initial strength of the unwanted parts to 0 in the ship's properties. Same way you hide those pipes on the Ganymede.

Well, that's pretty much what I meant my "destroying" them. Or is there an other way of destroying subsystems before a mission?
-
By destroying the subsystems with SEXPs in-mission and bumping the player entry delay. I think you can only do that in FS2 by manually editing the mission file though.

i feel tempted to post that smiley again
[edit]Don't even think it...[/edit]

Just use Visual Mex Editor to find out the pl;acement of guns and the like on the Homeworld ships. This way, you don't need to be in the game to find out where they are and so you can put them on your Freespace ships easier.

Ah yes, I remember now; I had to go through that pic while putting up Thorn's gallery. :)
