The GTrC (Recon Cruiser) Odessy. It has a fighterbay in the front and a large sensor suite on top.

It looks pretty good so far.
-
Needs more everything. Get to it!
-
It actually looks pretty big for a cruiser right now. Why not call it a corvette?
-
Errr... :

He's got a Myrmidon there for comparison. A Myrmidon is just under 20 metres long. This ship is 15 and a half Myrmidons long. Therefore it is 310 metres long, which is too small for a corvette, IMO.
-
Well, that's very WIP ship. It might be good for LOD3 or 4, but for LOD0 we all would like to see detailed ship with lots of turrets and cool hi-resolution maps.
-
At this early stage it's looking more Vasudan than Terran to me.
-
so it's longer than a leviathan (250 meters long.) you could justify it, by saying that its weaponary is about equal, but it has superlong range (hell, even a small fighter bay, with like 4 myrms or something)
Otherwise, i'd say it's a light corvette
-
Well it has to be a bit bigger to hold and service the fighters (I'm thinking 6 to 8). For anticap weponry I was just going to give it a couple ter-slashes (I know thier crappy, but they have a far better ROF than the SGreen). And I thought it looked a bit vasudan too, but that's how it turned out for above reasons and not wanting it to look like the ... one from Return to Sol.
-
A couple TerSlashes?
The Deimos only has 4. I hope you mean 'one'.

From the comments that follow it's pretty clear he means LTerSlashes (since he compares them to the SGreen).

For ships of iffy sizes like this, I rarely use retail weapondry and make my own. IE: MGreen
-
The Rakshasa is ~350m long and the Mentu is~ 320m, so this definitely falls under cruiser, and not of iffy size.
Stick with SGreens or LTerSlashes.

Here's a hopefully less Vasudan looking version.

What Galemp said.
Also, some smoothing would be in order, as the fully-faceted look makes it appear less attractive than it could be.
-
Still it doesn't look very Terran. If it's smoothed it'd look like Vasudan ship.

Yeah I kind of agree.

Yup, not that that's a bad thing. We could use more Vasudan ships.
-
Well, since Terrans and Vasudans always seem to have equivalants, I'll just leave this and try agian for a Terran version.
-
Don't let this just sit and collect dust, though! :nervous:
-
Indeed. I'd rather see a completed Vasudan cruiser than a terran one. :P
-
Okay, I'll see what what I can do with this befor I start agian.
-
Here it is in blend format for someone with more skills than me. Nothing changed except for some placeholder turrets on one side just to show where they go. The main turret will be a single SVas, just so you know when dealing with it.
EDIT: Erm... if you need it in a different format I can export it.

:bump: Just don't want this to be forgotten. And sorry if it sounded like I was giving up, but I'm only good at making a general layout, and fail at thinking of details.
-
So, you're expecting someone to pick it up and build a high-poly hull around this?
I'd love to, but sadly, I absolutely suck at modelling.

If you're having problems thinking of details then just look at some reference. Look at what other people have done, look at concept art online, look at star wars models and whatever other spaceships you can get your hands on. Heck you can just look at other, normal machinery. Everyone draws or creates what they know whether they realize it or not, if you don't know details, you simply need to learn.

Wow, this board has a high turnover rate. Anyway, got it into Sketchup for detail work. First on the list, engines:

Note: They are all seperate components, so I can still easily change them.
