Here we go again. As I said here (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,58574.0.html) I have a problem with FS not loading missions. The most funny thing is that it happends only sporadically. This morning I could launch Warzone just fine and play a couple of missions, but in the afternoon I wasn't able to launch any mission.

I assume you are running latest Media VPs. Try this (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,58371.msg1178750.html#msg1178750) or disable glsl shaders.

Heya, Tolwyn....Does the ATi opengl file roselve the issues that you initially reported in mantis?

Worked for two times, now it keeps crashing again. I am thinking about bying a new graphics card. Any suggestions?

If you plan on more ATi, get an HD series card, but I wouldn't bother with the 4870, a 4830 will do just fine for a top end card. For nVidia, don't waste time on the 280, go for (if you can find one) an 8800GT or 9800GT. 9650 and 9500GT's are also decent.

Thanks. If possible I'd like to avoid ATI now, since their cards seem to have the most problems with FSO.
€: Would the nVidia Geforce 7-Series be fine?

If you are looking at a 7600/7800 that should be more than passable. The 79xx are a waste, seriously. And lower than a 7600 does not really give you quite the same bang for your buck, so spend a little more if you can for one of the 76/7800 series.

I'm not on the team so what I'm going to say may be extremally stupid, but I had similar problem (random crashes at mission loading) and it was resolved by deleting all contents of 'cache' folder in Freespace2\data, Freespace2\mediavps and Freespace2\(mod)\data\ (I don't know how it worked but I'm not experiencing crashes anymore since then).

Okidoki, I will then look after a 7800 on monday. For the time being the problem can be solved by first loading a mission where nothing exists but the player's Ulysses and then launch the actual mission. But I will try the deleting the cache folder as well.

I also having issues with my HD4670, also random hangs up after loading a mission, i hear the sound that is played before take you to the briefing, but its not, it just hangs at the loading bar.
I also having a issue of "white texture" when there is a lighting on the ship because of critical damage.
In my other pc with an X1650 in having the same hanging problems, but not the white texture problem, and are using the same driver... 8.12. Just its Vista x64 on the 4670 and XP32 in the X1650.
Also i getting some wierd and massive slowdowns in the X1650 is too obius, mostly when in close to other ship or facing a big ship, it shouldt be hapening, it just 1024x768 with 0xAA 0xAF...
With the HD4670 i having the same problem... massive slowdowns when im flying too close to a ship (fighter bomber).

the problem is also known as "ATI always sucked with OGL and everything else in general".
now, on to the hangups, happens to me sometimes to either on vista x64, x32 and on both XP's. clearing the cache helps always. always...
