Title: Free CAD Software
Post by: Tyrian on December 23, 2008, 08:06:06 pm
I'm getting myself back into rocketry, except this time, it's high-power rocketry.  I want to go back to designing my own rockets, which I've done before, but I want to find a program that's capable of taking a 3D model and converting it into standard engineering schematics.  It also needs to be able to assemble a larger model from premade parts.  (I know that's a fairly standard feature, but I've actually found CAD software that doesn't have it.)  Simulation capabilities aren't needed, but would be nice.

Anyone have experience with free non-rendering modeling programs?  I've used a couple of paid ones (ProDesktop and Rhino), but I'm on a bit of a budget.

I tried Apogee RockSim at one point (a while ago), seemed to be pretty good. The trial version used to be good, but I don't know anymore.
