The fact that Christians chose a nearly random day of the year to celebrate the birth of Jesus really bugs me. There are people who believe that December 25th really is Christ's birthday. This is kind of meh...why would humanity know the date of birth of a person who emerged only when he was about 30(assuming that he existed) when there were plenties of important people who lived during period whose date of birth is unknown?

you know why they did it when they did, right? I figured everyone did by now. Basically, the pagan/celtic/germanic folks had a big feast at winter solstice time and such, so they made it so christians had a holiday then too, to appeal to any new converts.
Merry Christmas everyone! Have a happy day!
Although I disapprove of the consumerist holiday that is Christmas, the idea that the day should be marked by giving of gifts and kindness is, I think, an admirable one. I don't believe in Jesus, God etc but I love that today, everyone was friendly - on the bus, etc.
Merry Christmas y'alls
...if I were in the mood to be that...I just spent the whole night away playing something classified. Got to sleep 5.5 hours ago. :sigh:
:D
... and my conspiracy sense goes off.

Its a giant stone penis.
I now officially hate Christmas.
I'm with Zack here. I'm an atheist, but I see Christmas as an international holiday.
