The fact that Christians chose a nearly random day of the year to celebrate the birth of Jesus really bugs me. There are people who believe that December 25th really is Christ's birthday. This is kind of meh...why would humanity know the date of birth of a person who emerged only when he was about 30(assuming that he existed) when there were plenties of important people who lived during period whose date of birth is unknown?

Although I disapprove of the consumerist holiday that is Christmas, the idea that the day should be marked by giving of gifts and kindness is, I think, an admirable one. I don't believe in Jesus, God etc but I love that today, everyone was friendly - on the bus, etc.

Merry Christmas y'alls

you know why they did it when they did, right?  I figured everyone did by now.  Basically, the pagan/celtic/germanic folks had a big feast at winter solstice time and such, so they made it so christians had a holiday then too, to appeal to any new converts.

AMEN!

I always got dragged to church until recently. My family is roman catholic and goes to Shrine of the Little Flower. Its a giant stone penis.

Anyhoo, Its very conservative. It was founded by Charles Coughlin (sp?), who was good friends with the then-leader of the Klan. The catholics and protestants worked together to fight against equal rights for blacks. Ah, the joy of former enemies learning to work together!

Recently, the pastor made a very anti-gay speech. She walked out. In a packed church of a few thousand, she was the only one.

Since then she has renounced her faith.

BUT I STILL GET PRESENTS FROM SANTA CLAUS!!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!  ;)

Only one present this year - Mein Kampf. But I don't care.

I've got everything I want and need at the moment; what else is there to ask for?

Merry Christmas everyone. Happy whatever. :drevil:

I got 100 bucks to buy myself a present, which I already did; NWN2 Gold and Storm of Zehir.

The truth is that Christians always tried to overwrite common pagan feasts with something religious. Even feasts that apparently have nothing to do with religion have a religious meaning if you take a look at the calendar.

Also, it sucks when people claim that, summer excluded, we have holidays only thanks to Christianity. :doubt:
