My Idea: What if we could create a subspace disruption and "travel back in time" from Freespace 2 time to Freespace 1 time and use Freespace 2 technology to save ROSS 128? Here's an idea.
-
Interesting... What happens then?
-
Well, that would need to carry on into the idea of infinite timeline-based universes, since if that had happened we would already have recieved help in FS1 and there would therefore be no need to send ships back in time to help them, which would result in them not being assisted. ;) (kind of a paradox)
-
Ok, sounds like a good concept, but if the GTVA would be able to help out in Ross 128, then there would be nothing else that could happen. Making a rather boring campaign. Heres an idea, its not original but has some potential in you're concept. Maybe some sort of SOC unit that goes back in time to correct minor incidents or something. Then, one day as you go back to the present everything is changed and you try and figure out what event caused everything to change?! :headz: Ok its really unoriginal, but hey... :D
-
That is a very good idea, I need to email you about that. With your permission I would like to incorperate something like that into the Dark Alliance storyline

I know what you'll be using!

I had something similar to that, called FSPU (FreeSpace Parallel Universe). Basically, the Shivans never showed and the Terrans beat the Vasudans in the T-V war. I kind of had trouble thinking up a storyline, but a Vasudan leader would come to power and break the peace treaty signed between the Terrans and Vasudans by rearming the Vasudans with new, high-tech, weaponary.. (much like a Vasudan Hitler)
-
Yikes, that sounds scary! Vasudan Hitler...
-
LOL, check out my campaign ( http://wind.prohosting.com/cp5670 ); I have a Vasudan Hitler-type demagogue guy. ;):D

But after you destroy the Lucifer in Ross 128, the Shivans will begin to dispatch heavier ships, such as the Freespace 2 Shivan cruisers and corvettes, and maybe even the Sathanas! ;7

You may wanna check out "Alternate Paths" under Hosted. Maybe we can put a few of those ideas of yours to use. :D

Or, in the line of scifi-clichés, what about a traditional "loop"? An idea: GTVA sends a task force back in time to study shivans and their activities in the time before they got involved with humans and vasudans. They are succesfully sent back somewhere around the first incident with shivans in Ross 128, using [insert techno-babble]... But, as it turns out, this operation is in fact the cause for everything... Shivans notice the disturbance or whatever, are drawn to Ross 128, and so forth! :jaw:
So, the task force would need to stay out of sight of humans and vasudans, gather new (old? ;) ) intelligence on shivan activities of that time, and we would get an interesting new viewpoint on events of The Great War!

this is off topic, but it's directed to Terorist:
I strongly suggest you change your name. Now, I'm big with free speech and all, and if you want that name enough you can have it, but, in my experience, after 9/11, ppl. won't take kindly to that name...
Just a word of advice;)
Anyways, good storyline!

 Just as the sig states, it was, and still is, an old joke: an ancient nick for playing CS (some years ago, anyway), born from playing with words and pre-dating the wtc-incident. I don't know whether I should create a new account or just stick with this. Either way, it's no big deal for me. :) Though, if I do keep it, I'll probably have to explain this again, and again, and again... The problem with it is that it isn't different enough from *that* word, and most of the time just seems to be a incorrectly spelled 3\/1L word... ;)
Nah, I guess I'll just keep lurking, as always, until the majority of the most sensitive people, who do get upset from irrelevant stuff like this, forget they were "supposed" to be agitated by a single word. Or, in this case, a nick that just looks somewhat like a current buzzword that's being used in every possible negative context nowadays... :sigh:

Most of the good stories have been thought up already, you just need to recycle the best. :)

lol
Well, hey man, I don't care, just tellin' you ;)

Here is my idea for a time travel story.
A secret cell of bad guys, ummm lets say hold outs from the NTF are developing a time machine. You, as being SOC, have to stop them before the get the thing online. So you are hunting them down, find the machine, big battle ensues. You don't stop them in time from using the machine  , but you secure the facility. Command learns from the captured personnel of their ultimate plans. Which are to go back to Ross 128 and Defeat the Shivans, thus stopping the GTVA from ever being formed, upgrading the GTA with shields, beams, weps, new fighters, etc. Then help the GTA crush the PVN and eradicate the fish lovin' Vasudans. Now you are apart of a task force to stop these crazy fools and restore the time line. Feel free to use it if you want.
-
How about this...
You're a SOC unit sent with a fleet to test pilot the new time machine and you find yourself sent back in time. WAY back. Infact to the time of the ancients. Now, you find out that these ancients are infact quite a nasty bunch of bastards and you see them as being somewhat similar in their mentality towards universal domination. You're fleet join forces with a small yet persistant race that are fighting against the Ancients, and voila. Howver, the big M. Night Shamaylan part would be that in the end, you figure out that it wasn't only you that wiped out the ancients, but it was also you that gave birth to the Shivans! Ofcourse being rather idiotic Terrans, you leave couple of fighter blueprints laying around, for the race to pick and study. Flashforward to present, they are now the Shivans. All because of the GTVA. And what the Ancients were talking about all along weren't the shivans, but the GTVA. :D :D It would be one of those campaigns that would make you go :jaw: :D
