[q]Deep-fried Mars Bars
OK, so hailing from Scotland this is not strictly White Trash, but it surely deserves an honourary place in this section. (Scotland has the deadliest diet in Europe, and many Scots would reject White Trash delicacies like Tuna Casserole as effete health food fit only for dieters and invalids).
The Deep-fried Mars bar was born in the chip shops of Aberdeen and the surrounding fishing towns, where people paradoxically rarely eat fish (too good for you) and where absolutely everything is dipped in batter and fried, including pizza.
Mars bars, which in the UK are actually like the American Milky Way, were the first to get the treatment, but Snickers and other chocolate bars are now used too.
Time: 10 minutes
Servings: 1
Ingredients:
1 Mars Bar (UK) or Milky Way (US)
1 cup plain flour
1/2 cup corn flour
A pinch of bicarbonate of soda (baking soda to us Yanks)
Milk or beer
Oil for deep frying
Directions:
Chill the chocolate bar by keeping it in the fridge, but don't freeze it.
Mix the flours and bicarbonate of soda together.
Add milk (traditional) or beer (which gives a lighter result) until you get a batter with the consistency of thin cream.
Heat the oil until a small piece of bread will brown in a few seconds, but don't allow to smoke.
Remove wrapper from chilled chocolate bar. Coat completely in batter. Carefully lower into hot oil and fry until golden brown.
Serve, with ice cream or french fries if you're so inclined.
(Of course, if you want to be sophisticated, you can cut the bar into bite-sized pieces before coating in batter.) [/q]Unabashedly stolen from SB.com

Zero: You haven't tried Southern cooking recently, have you?
'S a staple, and it's really disgusting in some of the meat stuff.

Deep fried Ice Cream == yum.
Deep fried Milky Way ==

Speaking of disgusting Scottish foods...
From Highlander: The Movie-
RAMIREZ
Haggis? What is haggis?
MACLEOD
A sheep's stomach stuffed with meat and barley.
RAMIREZ
Ugh. What do you do with it?
MACLEOD
You eat it.
RAMIREZ
How revolting!

What, you never heard of Deep Fried Mars Bars before? They been around for years. ;)

Deep fried candy bars are excellent (and the way they make them in Adelaide are a great sugar buzz). Bobbou is right, however. When I went to St. Louis for some training, I had the great pleasure of having toasted ravioli. St Louis is the ONLY place I've ever seen them.

... for the tangy sauce, steaming on the light crispy crust of the morsel, filled with jucy sweet beef that melts in your mouth, but then theres the crunchy crust with it's hearty crisp crunch all rolled into a bite sized finger food deep fried in pig fat, to wich I have constructed a shrine riveled only to the one made for my hollowed freespace box. I think I'll make some now, I have three boxes of it in my freezer, just siting there. :p
if you ever get to visit america come to St. Louis, the dreary muddy fasod only hides the true wonders that hide within, also you must try the Ted Drews frozen custard,
and I don't know if it is a St. Louis thing or not, has anyone else ever had dipping dots, it's like ice cream that has been melted then sprayed into a vat of nitrogen leaving a bunch of little super frozen ice cream drops.

Actually, Haggis is a sheeps stomach stuffed with the sheeps entrails. It's not bad, although its a bit spicy-ish.
And Deep Fried Mars Bars? Try Deep Fried Pizza
(actually, most chippies will fry any sweets (Americans - read candy) that you can buy)
-
Bah, you sure don't know truly good food. And probably wouldn't be able to appreciate it. :p
