Title: Do you write fan fiction?
Post by: Shrike on March 15, 2002, 08:11:38 pm
Ever write a story based on FS?  Or the latest exploits of a Federation ship that runs into the Borg (oops!)  Or even something completely original.

In short, do you write?

I write when I'm bored. But I generally trail off after about a page and a half. It ends up unreadable garbage by the time I'm finished.

My universe is pretty cool though. It's really brutal and all the standard cliched/stereotypical things get blown outta the water straight off. The main race exist until the end of the universe then travel back in time to shortly after the big-bang and have done this about 14 times, they're like Gods but really self-involved. There are mutants, galactic wars, evil AI's, interdimensional wars, genocidal dictatorships and all of this doesn't revolve around Earth (at least not at first). The entire plot of everything I write centers around a story specific main character and an exiled member of the uber-race. It's complicated as hell but I think that eventually I'll have it all sorted out enough to be readable.

If you count doing tie-ins with existing future histories to avoid the furious shrieks of the game-fic obsessed.

When I'm feeling creative. I do some DMing in D&D sometimes and that usually means writing up a gaming universe so I write for that...(often futuristic) :cool: (Love that smiley)

No fanfic for me, in any form. I only read James Joyce for English class and write essays on Hemingway's use of existentialism. :confused:

I started out a FS fanfic a while back, but it turned out lousy so I scrapped it. =p

I'm writing a Sonic the Hedgehog fanfic, but I'll bet no one cares about that. ^^;

Edit: Stupid typos!

I have only written one thing that can be considered as fan fiction; I write briefings and debriefs for my missions when bored. :D

I've just begun a FS fanfic, it's currently about 6500 words and growing. I'm also working on preliminaries for a novel, so I write a fair bit, just not fanfic very often.
