Title: boredom + 3D = Mainhall?

Bored at 2:00 AM, using blender, listening to the FS2 Beta's mainhall music, and... well...

Not finished yet... but the pieces that could work for the techroom, campaign rooms, etc... could be:

Door in the upper left hand corner could serve as barracks.
The lift and cavity directly beneath that could be given some shiny computer screens and be the techroom.
That bigass door in the floor could be the launch thingy (imagine a wing of fighters rising out of it as the door slides back)
The big black space to the right could easily house a quarterdeck, nice for the campaign menu...
Not sure where a control room would go...


and that about sums it up.

main halls are built like that?? I thought they were just animations over pictures :P

Well, in the game yes, they are, but to make the pictures you gotta render them in 3D first. Granted, you could make a pretty good mainhall in MSPaint if you were really good at it (though you would need a few other tools to get it working in-game).

We wouldn't want them to get wet flying through a nebular space storm now would we?

I've been holding off on the roof to make working in other details easier.

What purpose would it serve though? It's a lot of work just for eyecandy

There are multiple Shivan mods that could use it. Hidden Terror, F_S's Shivans!, Tides of Darkness, Shivan Datafiles, etc.

That resembles the inside of an Orion more than any of the official mainhalls. I like it.
