Title: Disable ship and weapons loadout
Post by: dragonsniper on January 01, 2009, 08:29:22 pm
A simple question I'm sure, but I can't figure it out. How do you show the briefing and all, but disable the player's ability to pick ships and weapons?

You can also lock the loadout of the AI ships in the ship editor and not provide any extra ships/weapons in the loadout editor.

I have two more questions. How do you add the text in the middle of your screen like they did in Transcend? And the other one is how did they show the flashing "downloading new orders" in red in the middle of the screen (I think it was done in Derlict.) Thanks for the help.

Rather than ask us how to do these things (and you're not being very specific about it anyway) why don't you actually go look to see how they did it. You'll probably learn a whole lot of other nifty things while you're at it.

Seconded.

Yes scramble is faster but if you want the player to be able to see the loadouts but not change anything or want the standard screens then you have the option to do it the other way.

Lock is also useful if you want the player to be able to change the loadout of some ships but not others.

Amen, I've learned a lot about FRED-ing by opening up missions from good campaigns and having a look at how they're done (and posting questions on here as well). Be Warned though, some of the things in transcend require a lot of time and dedication to pull off
