As stated in the title I can't get the game to run.
I always get the same error message: Freespace has detected that you have less than 1MB RAM available. Freespace needs 32MB To Run.
Well It s hard to believe that I don't have 32 MB ready for the game as my computer has 4GB of RAM (hence the fact why I am running XP 64bit)
currenty using 987MB/5877MB (prolly includes swapfile)
9850 BE AMD proc (quadcore)
Gigabyte MA-790X DS4 mainbord
2 * AMD 3870 512MB PCIe
4GB RAM DDR2 1066MHz
Windows should be up to date
Latest drivers.
Tried compatibilty mode win98/me and win XP. Error message stays the same.

Sounds like you're trying to run the retail FS2. It has difficulties in detecting more than 2GB RAM. You should run FSO. Open Launcher.exe, click "Browse", select the .exe starting with "fs2_open_3_6_10r", click "Apply" and start the game by clicking "Run".
