Title: Someone with Flash/Java experience.
Post by: Retsof on January 05, 2009, 12:58:18 pm
You know what would be awesome?  A modable Tower defense game.  You could make your own enimies, maps, turrets, weapons, the works.  The one who made it wouldn't even need to make more than the basics, then just let the users fill in the rest.

That would be far, far harder then simply making a castle defense game, if you want to give the users any decent level of control.

Oh, dang.  You can't do like FS with tables for the data and images for the effects and turrets?

You have that kind of game which has already a Tower Defense mod. Just go playing Supreme Commander !!

You can't do this because flash sucks for things like that. There is no modability in flash. Ever. At all.

If all you're changing is skins and stats, sure.  But why bother?  There are hundreds of tower defense games out there.
To get anything approaching real modability - you know, defining new enemy behaviors beyond the canned set, making turrets that aren't stat and pallete swaps....well, that's the hard part.

Oh, okay then.  I guess the only way to do this would be to write it from the ground up, so nevermind.
