Title: New, updated missile models?
Post by: Jadehawk on January 05, 2009, 08:29:32 pm
Hey all,
I have noticed in the new VPs they have new Shivan models for their missiles. Has anyone ever made a POF model upgrade for the Trebuchet missile? The current one is really lacking if you ask me. I checked FSM and didn't see any there.

Thanks all :)

IIRC there was a detailed Trebuchet in the MVPs since the Beta, though it was only used for the tech model.

I'm pretty sure the Trebuchet has a high poly in-game model too, though it is not as high-poly as the tech model.

Thanks for the replies fellas. :) I pulled out the POF models from the ASSETS VP and it's the same two I already have been messing with. The design in dated in my opinion and compared to the new Shivans counterparts. I did not know if anyone was reworking this or making a new model to replace it?

Well, yeah, the trebuchet model is a bit old compared to the new shivan missiles, which are nearly brand new :P.  Mostly I think no one really knew what detail to add to the model, since it pretty shows all the detail that was in the original loadout anim.

Only three missiles are widely used enough to recommend upgrading, the Tornado, Rockeye, and Infyrno. The TAG missiles are only used in one mission on the FreeSpace 2 campaign by requirement and the other two aren't even usable in the standard tables...sounds about right I think.
