Title: question about bugs
Post by: Nico on March 16, 2002, 06:38:44 pm
I have a strange bug... well, it's a kindda common one,  hut I noticed something I didn't before:
my last destroyer has been converted, and, of course, player can fly through, and it has invisible walls around its center. But, I noticed this didn't happen when i was flying, say, the Ulysses, it happened only when flying a moded ship ( raziel, ezechiel).
Does someone knows how to sort that out? This pisses me off.

The, erm, mass control, or whatever it's called? All I can think of...

Ah! Density!

As in
Quote
$POF file:                      fighter2t-02.pof
$Detail distance:            (0, 80, 300, 900)
$Show damage:               YES
$Density:                       1

I wonder how long it will be before someone mods a "Ghost ship" intentionally with a value of 0.:D

btw, the pb wasn't the density in the tbl, but the mass in the pof, thx anyway :)
I've tried 0 already, what happen is when you're hit by a laser or anything, you spin like crazy and are thrown away. Not good :D

Anyone know what causes huge ships like the Orion or Big C to sometimes flail around wildly?

Spacecrack addiction in the admiralty?

Most likely, turn rates are too high, so when a big, long ship tries to pivot about its center at a rate that would normally be fine, it's got half a mile to swing instead of a few meters. And that speed adds up.

and with the colossus which has its pivot point in the back of the ship, this results in a severe bashing of anything that stands in the way :p

I considered it was maybe a bomber or something with a larger numerical mass than the capship, bumping into it and sending it reeling.

LOL I once did that as well for the Colossus and changed the targeting laser's mass to some really high value. That did the strangest things in the game - I started firing the TL at a Colossus, and right after I hit the fire button, the thing went spinning away like some of gigantic fan with only one blade. In less than a second it had already covered 10000m and was rapidly spinning at around 7 or 8 revolutions a second. It was hilarious to watch. :D

It would have made an awesome weapon though, slashing away anything in its path. :D
