Title: OT - Starwars expanded universe books
Post by: Martinus on March 16, 2002, 08:23:05 pm
Well, I've been feeling under the weather recently so I reconed a bit of low impact entertainment was in order.

I have read 'I Jedi' and was wondering if any of you could tell me what order the EU books come in so that I might start from the beginning and get the whole story.

Thanks guys :)

best advice is to read the x-wing series very good novels and they come neatly numbered and lots pof pivotal things happen in them and the cover a large time gap i jedi is about the end of the x-wing novels

then teh black fleet triolgy

then the ambush at coriliea triolgy
then the hand of thrawn
then you getting on to the new jedi order

Don't worry dude I've got the culture books in my to-do list ;)

I was just in a Starwars mood. KMN are those books you suggested in chronological order? Shouldn't shadows of the empire come first? I'm not sure, it's just something I read somewhere.

BTW when I said low impact I was referring to reading. It's not as taxing as half of the other stuff I usually do and it's a good deal better than sitting in front of the TV all day.

Excellent, I think I'll start reading from 'Splinter of the mind's eye'.
I've already read the Mos Eisley cantina book.

Thanks KMN :)

chewie? that was bad but losing 2 of the threee solo kids , after reading the young jedi knights siries I love them:( :( :(

if you read conqust you know aniken and tahri( his girlfriend ) are suppsed to beat the Vong so he can`t be dead.

sorry just bringing speculation of mine.

Anakin's body is cremated in Dark Journey; I highly doubt he's coming back. (Still, it's a strange galaxy the Jedi live in; anything's possible...)

And Jacen isn't confirmed dead yet. The Jedi knights "felt" him die through the Force, but Leia is still convinced he's still alive. Han believes her; so do I. Until I see evidence to the contrary, I'll list Jacen as MIA, not dead.

I still have to read Conquest, so I don't know how Ace Pace knows of Anakin defeating the Yuuzhan Vong, but I'm not inclined to think that's likely anymore, especially since Anakin's body was cremated...

KMN, well done on scanning and posting the SW timeline, dude! I just noticed, that timeline includes the e-book Recovery as well! Has anyone read that yet and is it any good?

I have read the E-book and I don`t recomaned it it breaks the storyline, also for conqust I forgot his name jedi master says tahari and aniken will do  deeds greater then them so who knows mst fans agreethat the way the funerel was made is that there is little emotion and that the auther is hinting that he isn`t dead.

about jacen I belive that he isn`t dead however not alive kind of like a coma. maybe he is in the radius of a yaslmari

I don't know how you got that hint. I read that funeral scene too, but it's not in the nature of Jedi to get all weepy at funerals. The Jedi grieve but they don't bawl and cry their eyes out. I don't think the lack of overt emotion meant that Anakin was somehow still "alive" at least in the corporeal sense. I don't doubt that Anakin exists in the Force as Obi-wan did at the end of Star Wars after Darth vader killed him, but I don't think anyone, even Anakin could come "back" from this. But I could be wrong.

I didn't think of that! Maybe the Vong were torturing Jacen so the other Jedi would feel his pain and then the Vong suddenly shoved him into a radius of a ysalmiri, cutting him off from the Force and making the other Jedi think he was dead.

The Vong control Myrkr and they already captured several vornskys to create the voxyn; does anyone know if the Vong managed to capture some ysalimiri as well?

in star by star the have 1 yaslamari so I guss they have more

and I got the hint from the NJO E-mail discusion group (I can give the link)
I belive he is alive because if not he can`t forfile that Masters Prophecy.

However About the yasalamari I Think not he is in a radius but they implanted the part of the yasalmari that mkesthem invisible to force into him because even when in myrker (in heir to the empire) leia said she could feel him).

i am convinced jacen is still alive remember at the end of dark jouirney the rpiest say basically opps hope they didn't kill jacen by mistake - they were planning something strange for him but nto to kill him remember they want to have the twins fight each other

as for anakin yup there is definatly soome history that would make it strange for him to leave now but on the other hand how can he come back he was cremated - perhaps we will finally find out what obi wan mant when he said if you strike me down i will become more powerful than you can possibly imagine

after all his death was strage the force essentailly burned him and anyone else notice he finally saw the vong through the force not that cystal - he knew where they were going to be not jsut that they were around thats why he managed to slaughter so many of them.

about Jacen I belive so but we don`t have good evidence about Aniken I belive that he was as powerfull as Yoda and just had the best chance to manege to use the force VS the vong with the crsytal as a hint.

but as he used more of the force he burned like I belive obiwan and Yoda they were so deep in the force that in the end they disapeard Aniken wasn`t in that stage but I belive he was geting close to becoming one with the force.

no geoge lucas explain the disappearing thing - jedi knights only disappear if they die at peace - if they die while fighting there bodys remain - evidence to back this up is darth vader - there was no jedi more powerful than him his connection to the force was the strongest in history yes when he died he did not disappear because he died killing the emperor - obi wan on the other hand stopped fighting and let himself die so he disappeared
yoda who died at peace  in his bed  disappeared

apparently the whole who dissappears and who doesn't will get explain at some poitn in the new movies

no way dont be rediculas - darth vader was a vergence in teh force he was more powerful than yado he had the highest meticlorian count ever - hell he was born of the force he didn't have a dad -  luke is just  son onf vader adn amidala who had no force talent at all - vader was the most power jedi ever the only reason he didn't kill luke was because he deep down didn't want too - i was about to say he really should have killed the emperor but he did lol but there is no way luke is more powerful than darth

pff, lame excuse, just like when he mess up with the use of parsecs. he just didn't think of that, that's all, and he made up a crappy reason afterward.

Its not an excuse, those who are one with the force when they die, disappear.

But they're not a peace... which doesn't explain Obi-Wan, but then again, after spending years in the friggen desert, I'd hope I'd have achieved oneness with the Force. :p
