I recently got a new Vista32 PC for running high-end stuff, FSOpen amongst them. I used the installer to get FSOpen, and through that the modding tools.
However, my PC is having problems with Modelveiw32, both normal and 32_HI (which i assume means High-Poly, right?). I get all the menu's working fine, but the main window that usually shows the ship model doesent load; it just stays blank, showing either whatever was in that area of the screen prior to opening the POF, or just blank white (see thumbnail, where i've just tried to load the GTF Angel in the FSPort VP).

Strangely, the program operates fine like this; i can use all the options and it acts as if there was a model showing there, even showing all the texture/model info and changing the camera coordinates listed along the bottom if i try to use the camera controls in the blank space. Its as if the program thinks its showing the model, but it isn't.
It's most definetly not a memory issue (PC can run FSOpen with HTL and Adv_effects with no frame drop) and OpenGL is working fine in FSO so i don't think its that. I do run a high resolution (1680X1050) but i tried running it on 800x600 and there was no chance, so i can't think what's wrong.
(computer runs a Intel Pentium dual-core E2220 CPU and Nvidia Geforce 9500GT card)
Has anyone encountered this themsevles? Is there a fix for it?
EDIT: got the graphics card name wrong. Its a Geforce not a Radeon. fixed. :o

Can you use PCS2? If so, then don't bother with modview at all. PCS2 can do everything modview could ever do and much more. ;)
If you for some reason can't and hence need to use modview, then I'd recommend looking into your video drivers - you do have something of an antique video card, so you may have to do some testing with various generations of drivers, as ATI tend to break older cards with new driver versions.

Antique? Oh wait i gave you the wrong name, its a Geforce 9500(GT) not a Radeon, sorry. *bangs head against wall and fixes top post*
Tried POFCS as you said. Looks like the same problem when i tried to load a POF file (no image, yet all the buttons seem to be responding), though i havent used the program before so maybe i missed a step or something (i extracted a VP onto my desktop, opened the program, then tried to open the POF).

Maybe the tools just don't like Vista? (My FSOpen has a little bug with it; i have to alt-tab a few times for it to display on the screen and swap mouse control over. We (my dad and i) reckoned it was something to do with Windows Aero).

Haha, that's quite a video card power difference then. :p
Anyway, try going to Options->Query OpenGL and pasting the results here. Mine for example gives:
OpenGL Version is "2.1.2"
Vender is "NVIDIA Corporation"
Renderer is "GeForce 8600 GTS/PCI/SSE2"
I'm going to assume the openGL version is up to date, but I'd just like to be sure. ;)
Also, what driver version are you using?

I'm afraid i wouldn't know exact driver version, but i know im using DirectX 10 and i updated to the latest Nvidia drivers for the card when i was getting the updates for Vista post install (which was around the 5th Jan).

Ugh, I was afraid of that. :\
Ok, well maybe try running it in XP compatability mode? Bit of a longshot, but I'm not sure what else you can try beyond maybe testing older driver versions. :\

download the drivers from nividia's site. always ignore the nvidia driver update in windows update. mainly because it doesn't include nvidia's control panel.

UPDATE: I managed to get them working! I completly forgot that Vista has compatability modes. I set the programs to "XP" Compatability and then disabled "visual themes" and "desktop composition" and they work fine now. Shall let the SCP team know so they can note it down somewhere for others.
