Post by: Felix 039 on January 14, 2009, 08:36:21 am
Why is it that the screenshots I see are like

High Detailed Imgs but when I play the game they are like this (see attatchment)?
I am playing  Mac version of FS2_Open 3.6.9, do need to install additional files?
Where do I get them and how to install? (As in where to put the file)

Which ones do I need and where to put the files after I download them?

Download those.

Put them in a folder within your main FS2 folder (for example: C:\Games\FreeSpace2\mediavps).

The use the Launcher, go to the mod tab and select the mediavps as your mod.

Then go to the features tab and turn what you want on. (or just choose "all features on" from the drop down list)

Also consider updating to 3.6.10.

The cutting edge 3.6.10 builds are cleverly hidden in the Nightly Builds (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/board,173.0.html) forum. Just pick the latest build for OS X.

Mamn i must say while the game is a lot more juicy with all options on it tends to eat up res. like there is no tomorrow. I have 2GB of DDR II at 1333 Mhz(I think) and a 512 MB vid card with a Intel DualCore core2Duo and it still is lagging onm the most intense parts of some missions.

It usualy get better after i take out a couple of ships but i never imagined FS could be such a hungry beast !

I get the same results with a laptop that has 1GB (2x512MB) DDR2, a ~1.6GHz Core Duo and a 256MB graphics chip that also uses shared memory to some extent. Without AdvEffects, of course.
