Title: Saved Character for Freespace: The Great War
Post by: stevejt on January 15, 2009, 05:25:10 am
I played FS a number of years ago, and was never able to complete the final mission to destroy the Lucifer. I wanted to have another go at it, but I didn't keep my saved character. I don't really want to have to play my way through the entire campaign again, just to play that last mission.

Does anyone have a saved character that they can post or email to me? (I believe that they're saved as a .FSM file.)

Thanks in advance

Just start the game, go to the Tech Room, select the Mission Simulator and press Ctrl-Shift-S.

Actually, I'm not absolutely sure if that also worked with FS1. It works with FSPort, though.

That's a FSOpen only cheat code, I'm afraid.

If you don't have Freespace 2, give it a shot. It's a huge step up in a lot of ways.

And you could use the ctrl-shift-S trick to get right to that mission.

I do have FS2. How can I use that to play the last mission in FS1?

Install Freespace Open over your base Freespace 2 install via Turey's Installer (see the 'Freespace Open Installer' link the top bar of HLP.) Get the Freespace Port. Use the ctrl-shift-S trick in the techroom with the Freespace Port campaign selected.

You can use Freespace Port MediaVPs to give the game 2008-era graphics, too.

If you need more detailed instructions, we can walk you through it.
