Title: Evil Genius
Post by: Flipside on January 16, 2009, 12:15:37 pm
Forgot how much fun this game was :)

Just re-installed and am busy setting up my Island of Evil, it's not an easy game, even on Easy level, since once you start attracting the attention of the Superpowers, your Island ends up crawling with Agents, however, it is fun for its sheer depth, the amusing ways of killing bad(good)-guys, and the oh-so 1970's James Bond music ;)

Definately worth a try if you haven't already.

It's a shame that Elixer died before they could bugfix everything. :/

I'm still hoping that someone will make an Evil Genius: Global Conquest game, where (aside from being multiplayer) you can take over the world with force.

I read about this in Edge when it was new but never got round to trying it.  :doubt:

It's good, but there's little replay value. The biggest disappointment is the way that missions work.

Thanks for reminding me of this game. Got my copy a couple of days ago.

I find the idea highly entertaining, but it seems like they could have done better with game pacing. Game itself feels like a combination of Sim City and Command & Conquer. There seems to be an abundance of bugs and some kind of memory leak, but besides from that it's pretty good and original.

Required a couple of restarts from my side, but I like the challenge. And also that they don't hold your hand and let you discover lots of things by yourself. If only they had made the science work in a way that it would recall what was researched before so that I don't end up trying to repeat the same wrong choice all the time.

Basically, a little bit of more polish and this would have truly been a classic.

I will admit that my biggest gripe is lack of space, the agents come thick and fast, and it's tough keeping them confused. The freezer ends up filling up with dead bodies. Also, there only seems to be one island to play on, which limits the long term attraction.

It's still fun, but, as people say, I little bit more time would have made it far better, it's possible they over-complexed themselves.

I like the boxart. Kinda reminds me of classic Lucas Arts artwork
