I tried posting a bug with that tracker thing, but i cant seem to get registered, so ill post it here.....
Recently reinstalled SCP on a brand spanking new clean copy of Freespace 2, and its the latest version. I get all the way to the start campain button, then as soon as it loads, the game crashes. Took a looky in the error log and saw this
fs2_open_3_6_10 caused an Access Violation in module fs2_open_3_6_10.exe at 001b:00000000.

Uh, how old a graphics card are we talking about here? And are the drivers up to date? Could be that either the drivers or the entire card doesn't like the 3.6.10 MediaVPs.

Also.. the color depth of 16 bits is also something that needs to be fixed.. That is make sure both the desktop and the FS Open have been set to 32 bit.

You'll probably also want to follow step 4 of the MVP installation guide (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,58230.0.html) to set up your command lines to get the most out of the mediavps.

The Vid card is a Geforce 3 ti 200, with the latest drivers, and the Cd was simply left in from installation...
Tho removing the cd seemed to make the game go along a bit farther before it crashed, and i got a different error....(i think)

I would be quite surprised if a geforce ti200 could run this, that is a very old card now. Nvidia is effectively up to their 10 series now.

Dunno, but if OpenGL 1.5.7 is what you get with the latest drivers, "old" is definitely not an exaggerating adjective. At least with Nvidia. Intel is another matter, since their (integrated) GPUs just suck. Bigtime.

Its run the earlier versions before NO sweat, with all the eyecandy turned on.....is there anyplace where the old Media.vps are archived or soemthing? i just want to get this working again

But the newer they get, the more likely it is that there are issues with old hardware.

The only thing about the earlier versions compared to the current that are superior are the neat orange shockwaves as c914 pointed out in his damage counters.

Matters of opinion. But I as well prefer something from earlier MediaVPs: the Stargate event horizon -ish warp effects.
