Title: Rotational hyperspace
Post by: IPAndrews on January 20, 2009, 04:14:27 am
I saw someone mention rotational skybox code in one of the other forums and this reminded me of some work I did on a rotational hyperspace skybox for TBP. The skybox should actually be in the core vp. Possibly under the name newhyperspace.pof . Does anyone know if this works in 3.6.10?

it is there. Not yet tested in 3.6.10. Could be worth a look

Rotational skyboxes... You guys are just trying to make me dizzy, aren't you? Hyperspace is bad enough without the rotation, thank you.

So in rotational, you mean that it spins on axis, right?

There are 2 layers all of which spin on different axis.

Ugh, the thought about it alone almost makes me puke.

Nah, srsly. That sounds cool. Would test it right now, but gotta head over to the uni.

Checked. It does not work. Why you didn't ask Bobboau for help?

The code wasn't going to be in the release version of 3.6.9 so there was no point. It did though work in Bobboau's rotational code test build so I'm surprised it doesn't work in 3.6.10. Maybe the code or the implementation has changed. It was a long shot anyway. No worries.

It now works with 3.6.10 and TBP. It's made by Mike "Bobboau" Abegg and also by Anton "Asprin" Rosenthal and Michael "Mihard" Chechulin.

Quite nice. How did you do it?

So this is based on Bobboau's code? Excellent. I was beginning to wonder if that was gone forever. :) I'll take a look at your code tomorrow and see if I can get this into my branch tomorrow then. :)

Yes. Rotational sequnce's code was developed by Bobboau and also it is updated by guys from OpenSpace Softworks.

was this the dumb rotation thing or was it something else?

Is there any reason why OpenDNS thinks that's a phishing site...? :nervous:

Oh, the OpenSpace guys also seem to have fixed the muzzleflash bug. (http://scp.indiegames.us/mantis/view.php?id=752)

Or at least I think they did. It's kinda hard to see in their trailers.

Still, the rotational submodels are more important right now.

In the case of the skybox in the TBP Final core it was indeed the dumb rotation thing.
