Title: Searching for a modder for our new campaign
Post by: Lucika on January 26, 2009, 12:44:22 am
Hello everyone!
I felt like that this is the appropriate topic for that, if not, just move it away.

We are searching for a modder for a brand-new, top-secret idea. We need two roles:
1) textures and new ships
2) new weapons and modifying weapons.tbl

So, if anyone is interested, just PM me and I'll be glad to answer.

Weapons and stuff you can do yourself. But searching for uvmapper/texturer/modeller... You wish to find any. Most of them are busy already with their stuff or other projects. Maybe you can get a bit more of attention if you post plot synospis or screenshots. But with post like that... Good luck as Galemp said :P

I'd suggest instead to join already excisting projecy and contribute in FREDding or other thing that you're skilled in. For example The Apocalypse Project surely would hire skilled FREDder.

Well, it would be hard to post screenshots since we are using FS2-ships instead of... those what we need :p
And, presently, I don't want to give away the story - and I am not alone. We have already assembled a team of 4 - we only need a modder t get this project running. The 4 of us aren't "professionals" either - you see, we are clearly searching for someone with (at least) little experience who wishes to try out his/her knowledge.

Ooh. Cool :)
Firstly I'd like to suggest you to apply for Game Warden hosting (http://www.game-warden.com/forum)
It's fine Forum and some fresh blood would be appreciated to be hosted over there ;)
I might help you out with weapons, but my time is very limited.

And about help needed: Don't expect that someone's going to join your project if plot isn't known for him or he doesn't know if the project will die  in the middle of development.

How many missions are planned?

And if you need models, why not to check FreeSpaceMods for some?

Actually, do yo have sketches of what the new models are supposed to look like?
Is it a TC from another franchise and the ships are fairly known?

If it's just a MODEL issue, have you tried what I mainly do: Go outside the FS2 Community?

All I can say is try making the GTC Great Big Cube (or some other <100 poly ship), or reverse engineer a working model, or both. Then there are .tbl edits which are easy to figure out...

Treat the mod as an opportunity to learn stuff every time you get a chance, it's really satisfying to actually build something ex nihilo and see it work (trust me, I know).

And so good luck to ya all.

Getter Robo G, shiv_pl, I'll PM to both of you.

By weapons do you mean effects or tbl edits?  (Tbl edits are rediculusly easy, so you could likely do those yourself.)  I could make an effect or two, but (as the ToT team knows) I take my sweet time to build up the ambition to make them.  :P

We need a whole bunch of new weapons (0 canon because of... oops, I almost said too much :P) and totally new ships.

As much as I don't want to ruin your spirit, don't you think this is a bit too ambitious for your first project? You could easily just find interesting ships (and even weapon effects) from FreeSpaceMods and use them. Not to mention the fact that since many capable modellers are already working on projects, it will be difficult to convince even one of them to start working from scratch on yet another project.

Yup, but, thank God, I am not alone anymore, AND IN CASE IF THE SITUATION GETS OUT OF MY CONTROL, (sorry for vcaps, too lazy to edit) there they are to aid me.

PM me a general description of a couple weapons you need and I'll see what I can do, I don't even have to be in the loop.
