Title: System Empires: Web-based Game
Post by: miguelcizeron on January 27, 2009, 11:00:59 am
System Empires is a web-based game, made in Portugal and under development since February of 2006.

The game stands out of the other ones for the attention given to the suggestions in the forum, in short, the whole direction of the development has been guided by what most of the players ask.

Recently the English version was added to the game as a way to allow a larger variety of players. ;)
A normal edition ( http://www.sysemp.com ) is currently online and open for registration and another version ( http://civ.sysemp.com ) is planned for March.

The game's goal is to create an empire that can face the rivaling empires, throughout the Solar System.
Each player can have 11 regions spread across the 8 planets (+ Pluto) of the Solar system, where each planet has different characteristics.

A player can construct buildings, develop technologies, build terrestrial vehicles, ships and armament in each region.
There are five types of resources (Metal, Diamond, Hydrogen, Zion and Nanites) each obtained by the respective producing building, and Robots that help in the construction of buildings and in the recycling process of battles' debris.

There is also a Market, managed by an AI, where all the players can exchange their spare resources for other ones and have access to the Interplanetary Portal.

From time to time Comets tend to fall, in order to fight them off players must join forces and firepower to avoid the collision between these Comets and their regions which would destroy part of their buildings, defenses and resources.

Currently under development: Joint Attacks, Joint Defenses, Joint Recycling, Mother Ship (ship with customizing capacity, built in modules that the player buys), among others.

And when you donate 10 USD, how much of an unfair advantage do they give you?

Correct me if I'm incorrect, but
a) doesn't this count as advertising
b) isn't advertising sort of not appreciated at HLP
?

Like other games, you don't get advantage if pay something. You will just have a better look and more stats.

I am not advertising. Just letting other people know about this game, that I play. More players are welcome to battle ;)

Dude, this is a FREESPACE forum, excuse me for being somewhat rude, but what relevance does this have to freespace 2, and do you even play freespace 2?

come on... this is gaming discussion board, you can't expect us to talk only about freespace, besides check the other threads they hardly resemble freespace like conversations.

back on topic... somehow this reminds me of ogame, word of advise: do not start if you are the kind of guy that doesn't like to loose.

This is the second game advertisement within the past few weeks. If people knew the difference between "recommending" and "advertising", then I think we'd respond a bit less critically.

I don't mind if members recommend games. However, I classify registering just to post a "recommendation" an ad. Others may disagree, and that's fine since I don't dictate policy around here.

It looks like an oversized Hideki.

A recommendation usually falls under

"Yo I was just playing this game and I thought it was kinda like freespace and you guys should play (insert uber-cool pic here) caus etc etc etc)"

Not some full blown article on the game, but regardless, this is off-topic

Uh...I see a "theory of operation" for the game in the post, nothing about recommending it.

It's holding me longer than Ogame, if that's anything to go by.
