Before, I could hot switch from direct connection thru modem or thru router.

Now, I can't direct connect to modem no matter how many times i refresh all the ****.  :confused:

A little more info might help.  What type of modem?  DSL 56k?

Is it one of those modems you have to run a setup disk from the ISP to configure?  If not then check your IP settings to see if it's got a static IP or is set to obtain one.

I have a static IP, thats for sure.

EDIT: I figured it out. turns out in my connection settings i did not let windows use an IP automatically, but rather assign an IP. I was screwing with this before when trying to forward ports for an application.

Hmmmm.. to lock or not to lock, that is the question....

if i applied that school of thought, i could lock every thread on gen disc. i guess sweeping a moment of frantic desperation under the rug is admins prerogative :D

As I said, for now, if KappWing has the problem under control, then there's no further purpose to the thread, and threads like that tend to turn into Spam, if he wants it re-opened, he can PM me and I will do so.

Oh, and I'm not Admin, and I certainly don't 'sweep' anything under the rug. :p
