Is it possible to get rid of the part of the briefing that informs you of the mission objectives that you need to complete?
-
Don't think so, I mean it's a part of the briefing hard-coded into the game
OR-
You can use a red-alert briefing
-
I'll see if I can try the red-alert briefing, but I'm not sure if it'll work. Thanks.
-
Technically you could un-hard-code it :P

No probs. This for a campaign or stand-alone mission? If it's a campaign you could consider (if viable) making the mission previous a cutscene mission or something so the player's performance isn't hampered if they did badly in the mission before.
-
Check the "mission specs" tab, there is an option to toggle mission briefing on/off.
specially useful when you need to do extensive testing...saves you an extra click.
-
Although turning the any type briefing off isn't really recommended unless of course it's a cutscene in a campaign.
Certainly never for a standalone.

You've got that right.
I always save my briefings, CB's and DB's for the last part of FREDding.

Bolded to point out that what some people have been suggesting is not what he's asking for.
What is it you actually want it hidden for?
I'm not sure, but this seems to me like the sort of situation where you're asking how to do something you don't really want anyway. Have you looked at the objectives screen, and particularly at what 'valid' versus 'invalid' objectives means, and what the validate-objective sexps (can't remember the actual name atm) do?
-
That would be my bet too. If it is, this (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/karajorma/FAQ/fredretail.html#events) explains how to use invalid objectives.
-
A big problem I have, is I've checkmarked the button to turn off the briefing in the mission specs, bu I'm still getting completion music. It's very odd. I'll mess around with it and try to fix it, but I may need some help on this. :)
-
I think you need to actually state your problem rather than asking how to do things you think might fix it.
-
Never mind. I fixed it doing something I didn't think I could. Thanks for all the help.
-
Let me guess, you made it a training mission?
-
Nope. I added a mission objective (even though you wouldn't see it) that told it to be true if 5555 seconds had passed from the time that Alpha 1 left.
