Post by: FreeTerran on January 28, 2009, 07:45:42 am
hi all...

i was working on a browser some time ago.... now I'm interested to use the names and weapons from freespace so what about the copyright?

is it possible? i would put some copyright text at my page that names and things are copyright by Volition Inc. is that enough or do i need anything else?

Well, since there's no copyright on greek mythology, I think you're safe.

Depends on whether you're using the names as FS2 ships and weapons or just using them cause you like the sound of them. The latter is perfectly legal.

Well, to cover anything that is actually copyrighted, just stick one of these in:
Quote from: Dogma (Film)
Disclaimer: 1) a renunciation of any claim to or connection with;
2) disavowal;
3) a statement made to save one's own ass;
4) a foresaid word for not being blamed later.

Basically put in a huge-ass disclaimer

Hercules, Medusa, and Prometheus are all fine. And I seriously doubt anyone's going to come after you for the name Subach.
