Title: Distance to see in nebula
Post by: Lucika on January 29, 2009, 01:37:01 pm
Hi!
How far can you see in the nebula - not on the radar, but phisically? (before AWACS)

AWACS affects radar range, not visibility.

...

Just tested it, a bit over 700 meters seems to be sight distance.

Depends on the ship. Check out the $Nebula draw distance entry.

This means the "shady", or the totally clear visibility?

My mistake, it's the Fog entry in objecttypes.tbl.

http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Objecttypes.tbl#.24Fog:

It has distances for both when it starts fading, and when it vanishes.

Hi!

Why are you interested in the specifics by the way?

I am FREDding a mission and in a nebula the player would encounter an unexpected ship (you know, "what is this cruiser doing over here?") and I wanted to send a message by Alpha 2 at the moment when the player can see the "shadow" of the ship.
