Indeed! Holy frak on a stick!

What an amazing episode, so goddamn tense. I'm just shell shocked.

Yep. I think it's going to take a little while for the shock to leave the system before I can make any coherent comment about it.

Adama with pistol and assault rifle.

****.

Yea.

After two hours that's the only sentient comment I can make about the show. Still too shocked.

F*ck yeah!

One of the best scenes in this episode. One of the best scenes in the entire show!

Starbuck's back!
No hesitation, no doubts, just good ol' Starbuck, pulling the chestnuts out of the fire.

I'm a bit disappointed by Racetrack's character development, however.
She was one of the first that accepted Helo, she was also one of the first that accepted Athena.
This was quite a shock to see her side with those treacherous bastards.

Gaeta in command of the bucket...muhahahaha, that's even worse then Lee in command of the Pegasus.

I still have to digest everything...

Spoiler:

Roslin "in command" (???) of the Cylon Basestar? Frak, yeah!!
"I'm coming for all of you..."

I would like to see, Roslin sending the Cylon Centurions ( 10 -15 should be sufficent ) to Galactica to "clean" the ship of traitors.
And every single Centurion has a piece of paper on the chest with a message written on it:

"With love from Laura!" ;7

She did however look rather shocked at how they treated Apollo when he got off the Raptor. I suspect that although she doesn't want the alliance she's not in line to start beating up people just because they do.

What she probably wants is for the Cylons and their basestar to go off on their own and leave the fleet. And to be honest there is some value to that point of view. The other Cylons didn't join up with Galactica cause they felt remorse over the attack on the Colonies. They joined up because they are heavily outnumbered by Cavil's forces and joining up with Galactica doubles their fire-power.

Lee however is correct in his view that it's only by humans and Cylons working together that they can end this cycle of violence (well that or genocide).

What an awesome episode.

It's amazing that they managed to pull pretty much everyone with a grudge out of the woodwork -- Charlie Connor, the rape gang from Pegasus (including Specialist Gage), even Seelix.

*bang*
"I can do this all day, who's next? Racetrack?"

Kara's back to being awesome. Good, she was getting on my nerves lately but she's totally redeemed herself in that scene :D
Awesome episode, certainly stirs up emotions. Kept wanting put a bullet in Gaeta's head.. I just wish I could have postponed watching it till next week and then move on to the next one :)

Is this ship untextured or otherwise very bland...?

Awesomeness is back in Galactica I guess. I enjoyed this episode very much indeed. The two previous ones weren't really bad, just slow. :)

Looks like this ship is missing it's textures.
Could be the lighting of the scene but i doubt it.
It looks like it is brand new, or has left the construction dock moments ago.
Ships of this class are ususally very colorful ( Olympic Carrier, Pyxxis, Geminon Liner 1701 a.s.o. ).

That is the standard passenger liner. The same kind as Olympic Carrier was. There are at least 5 different paintings of it in the show. (like Geminon liner, Sagitarian spaceways, and so on) This one is clearly missing textures. Perhaps they forgot to associate one to it from the catalog.

Its been 24 hours and I'm still at a loss with that episode.  Very hard hitting...slowly warmed up into a total....something.

I agree with everyone else...Starbuck = teh awesome in this episode!

Adama is more awesome.  The ragged beard on Tigh doesn't cut it when it comes to awesome.  He looks like a miserable old guy who shoots people for fun.  Adama looks like a pissed-off old guy who wants to teach some punks a lesson, Dirty Harry style.

Finally got around to seeing the episode...gotta hate traveling. Anyways, wow. I think that episode was a shining example of **** hitting the fan in a big way. Was definitely fun seeing Tigh and Adama being the Rambo tag team, and Kara getting back to kicking ass. But there was a lot of interesting stuff going on besides the action. Roslin appears to be back in the game; I guess if there's one thing that'll always bring her back, it's the prospect of Zarek in charge. I'm curious to see how the rest of the fleet is going to respond to this mutiny, especially after Roslin's address. Also, what are the Cylons going to do? I can just picture a Cylon boarding action on Galactica to try and take back command...
Title: Re: Ep. 415 "The Oath" Discussion (SPOILERS)
Post by: karajorma on February 01, 2009, 02:44:27 am
The problem with a Cylon boarding party is that there is a good chance both sides would start shooting at it. The whole problem is distrust of the Cylons and centurions stalking through Galactica might be a step too far even  for the people loyal to Adama. Are they really on the same side? Is this a Cylon trick or simply a blatant attempt to seize Galactica while they can?

I suspect we'd only see a Cylon boarding party if Gaeta manages to get control of the ship. Once all the people with guns are on his side then there's no reason not to send one in. (Well except for the fact that they might decide it's their ship now and jump away!). :D
Title: Re: Ep. 415 "The Oath" Discussion (SPOILERS)
Post by: FraktuRe on February 01, 2009, 05:03:47 am
There's no way for the cylons to know who's on their side and who's not, especially when you can just say "I'm with you" then shoot them in the back.

There's obviously a lot of Adama supporters, because the amount of shooting was a little much for an easy mutiny.

From the sounds of the ship's captains, many of them appear to support Roslin.
Title: Re: Ep. 415 "The Oath" Discussion (SPOILERS)
Post by: karajorma on February 01, 2009, 06:06:14 am
Exactly. Any Cylon force would need to be led by Lee or Starbuck or someone that would obviously be considered loyal to Adama. But that then cuts down the number of centurions they could send in.

To be honest I think that cutting Roslin off mid-speech was a bigger mistake than just letting her finish. Especially since Gaeta now wants to blow up the Raptor she's in. Until she can get back on the radio she now looks like she's a martyr.

I just know one thing - if Adama ever gets back in command those airlocks will be in operation 24/7. And I'll be making popcorn and having bets as to which traitor flies out faster :D

I would prefer the launch tubes.  If we are tossing traitors out the airlock, lets do it with style

If Lee and co. get control of the Galactica back, I predict something more along the lines of all known traitors being rounded up and put on the prison ship, left with enough fuel to get back to Earth should they so choose, and the fleet jumps without leaving a forwarding address.

As a civilian Zarek would be harder to deal with. Military personal can simply be shot. Ironic considering Adama's response to Cain trying to do much the same thing of course. :D

I don't think being a civilian will matter to much, since a large number of Gaeta's forces are civilian.

Interesting read about Gaeta and his motivations:

http://io9.com/5143404/why-is-gaeta-so-bad

A very nice summary of what his character has been going through and how he got to where he is.  His sudden rise to evildoer is actually not that sudden...they have me convinced.

Yeah, poor Laird. His death hit me the same way Gunney's did...they weren't front-and-center characters, but they were characters I'd come to rely on. I guess now Laird can join his family finally, though.

That was an interesting article talking about Gaeta's motives, and I tend to agree with its analysis. Gaeta is very much a tortured soul; he's definitely not been the same since New Caprica, and the loss of his leg (and the resulting amount of excruciating pain) has really broken him down. It's no wonder that Zarek was able to "turn him to the dark side", as it were. I am really excited for the next episode now, I hope it doesn't disappoint.
